I think it's a higher level of self-confidence because he didn't have his dad (after his passing) in his life after a young age.  When boys lose their fathers, they usually go two ways 1) strong, men of the house type that are humble, or 2) momma's boys who have their confidence and importance propped up by their mothers.  Beck is obviously the 2nd type, and he didn't have a male influence in his life to "keep him in check".

I was around enough Husker players while in college to know that they can be real jackasses and full of themselves.


But, none of them come anywhere close to this guy.

Except, performance wise, he's a low level athlete.  He hasn't done jack squat in his athletic career post high school to warrant such an absurd self-aggrandizing ego.
