A decision could be made sooner than we thought

Please stop calling for Riley to get fired. We're paying him through the end of the season. There is no reason to shuffle the coaching staff with two games to go. Riley will finish out the year and what happens after that happens.

It serves nothing, other than to satisfy some fans' bloodlust, to fire Riley right now.  It won't turn the season around, it won't make anything better, and it won't ensure that we get your favorite coach.

Every coach we are after is still going to be coaching their team the next 3 weeks so I agree.  It is not like we are going to fire Riley today and announce coach whomever it is going to be is taking over for the last two weeks.  So in reality, what coach on this current staff do people want coaching this time in Riley's absence, and how is that going to make things better?  We are going to have to beat Penn State on the road to be bowl eligible and there is no coach on the current staff that is going to magically take over and put out this dumpster fire.

Coaches get fired midseason sometimes and it's not always about bloodlust. First, it takes away the speculation about the future. Second, it gives someone else a chance to close out as the interim, maybe show some good things. Third, it lets us start the transition early. The players, fans, and everyone will know change is coming. They'll be fighting to shape the new era in their last two games instead of under the illusion that anything they can do will save their current coach. This doesn't need to be a wound that opens up when the decision comes down at the end of November.

I'm as high on Riley as anybody. If for some reason they're still entertaining keeping him, I'd be happy to support Riley next year, and crazy/optimistic enough to think it'll be a lot better. But right now, we're just dragging this out, and it's agonizing.

I still dont see what the point in is keeping him at this point.  Everyone knows hes gone so there is no point for him to be here.  its not mid season, there are only two games left.  Let it be done.

Because he fills a function for the team. He has a job to do. If he doesn't do that job, someone else has to.  There is zero point in making everyone shuffle the work they do because people want Riley fired today.

This will all be resolved. It just takes a little patience.
