This was the case long before Mike Riley showed up. Some one said it back earlier in this thread- gone are 4 previous Head coaches. Yet TO was here with loosing season after loosing season- Or have you forgotten those years? We used to say " Osbourne cant win a bowl game" This nobody wants to come here bullsh#t needs to die a quick and painful death. 5 or 6 or 7 million dollars per year in a profession with very limited places to coach, c’mon? How much money has taken to keep you in Nebraska? A lot less than that is the correct answer. And apparently you haven’t travelled much because there are much much worse places to live. Many of them in SEC country so this is nothing more than a whiny, not very well reasoned excuse. And Mr Nebraska football history expert- please provide some links to examples of Tom Osborne’s “losing” seasons. That may be the stupidest thing I’ve ever read on this board and that’s saying something. 4 Quote Link to comment

huskerfan74
Isn’t it ironic that our QB goes down and does not come out in the second half yet no one cares! We got so numb that nothing matters anymore. Not only did Riley lose the team and his coaches, he lost the entire state including announcers that claim to be his friend. Quote Link to comment

Loyal as hell.....need I go on? Sure, great player. But TBD on the coaching front. I understand the blinders are on when the guy is from Nebraska, but our line is not very good right now. It might be scheme, it might be coaching, it might be a bit of both. But if the guy wasn't from Nebraska, no way he'd be looked at as favorable as he is. This response is a prime reason why the HC better be Frost. Quote Link to comment

I never said that it is just about speeches. Inspiring players has many forms and is not just about speeches. Now, can you honestly tell me that Saban does not inspire his team by his speeches? Not to mention that he is always well prepared. You think a rah rah speech is what seperates Riley and Saban? and I have no idea about Saban but I know that unprepared players make uninspired players. Quote Link to comment

kodi41
Have a look at the win loss record IN BOWL GAMES. 13 losses - with 7 of those losses in concession. Then Consider the conference we played in. The big 8 nor the big 12 are, were, or will ever be a match for the big 10. Quote Link to comment

Maybe this is going to be bigger challenge than I imagined? Your next instruction is to look up the meaning of the word “losing”. Then, if you’re still unsure, compare and contrast it to what we’ve had since TO retired from coaching. I’m hopeful you will come to the correct conclusion, on your own, that you misused the word. But, if not, just ask any nearby adult how what Tom Osborne did at Nebraska could never possibly be referred to as losing. I mean sure he lost some games but dang man, think before you speak. 1 Quote Link to comment
