beastieboat
Friend from Ames Iowa said Campbell at Iowa State is talking to Moos. Quote Link to comment
Danimal
His buyout is high but he'd be a solid get. It's damn hard to win in Ames, that Campbell has managed to do it in year two says something. Quote Link to comment
BoNeyard
Going to guess he might be plan B Quote Link to comment
chamrocck
Frost or bust. I'm a no on Campbell. 3 Quote Link to comment

If through some meltdown we cannot get him we are not paying the huge buyout for Campbell...spend that on Frost or someone else. Quote Link to comment
HuskermanMike
Info on Campbell's buyout. http://footballscoop.com/news/anyone-coming-matt-campbell-better-prepared-break-bank/ I would love to have him but only if we cannot get Frost. Quote Link to comment
The Scarlet Pimpernel
Campbell reminds me too much of Riley -- doing well at a school with limited resources, and the whole "just imagine what he could do with our resources!" spiel. Thanks but no thanks. 2 Quote Link to comment

Thanks but no thanks. The difference is he has won everywhere he has been. If you can get Iowa State to third in the Big 12, you can get Nebraska to win the last and play for a CCG. He does not have a lot of games under his belt, but he has more experience than Frost. I would trust him to lead us to play better football than Pelini or Riley and hopefully get us a Conference championship in a few years. He is a coach on the rise, but he is plan B behind Frost. 1 Quote Link to comment

Thanks but no thanks. Difference is that we hired Riley coming-off a 5-7 season. He'd had some success at Oregon State but they peaked under Erickson and only one of Riley's last five teams was a winner. He was an old coach that was already showing substantial signs of falling-off. Campbell is a young up-and-comer that's winning at ISU now in only his second season there. He won at Toledo too, I was surprised he even took the ISU job. I'd like to get Frost but if he isn't coming then Campbell is damn well worth a look, maybe we could get boosters to take a chunk of that buyout hit. Quote Link to comment
The Scarlet Pimpernel
Sorry guys, we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I just don't see it. Quote Link to comment

Blackshirtsguru
Not with this buyout someone would have to give in order to get him! Quote Campbell is under contract through the 2021 season with a salary of $2.1 million in 2017 that raises $100,000 a year, meaning Campbell is in line to earn $2.2 million in 2018, $2.3 million in 2019, $2.4 million in 2020 and $2.5 million in 2021.
