New DL coach Dawson was in contact.  Wants him to play OLB.

Not planning to sign until February and hasn't taken any visits.  Scheduled to go to Virginia Tech the weekend after next.  Possibly visiting Boston College this weekend.  Said he's looking to visit Nebraska.  Also considering Syracuse and Pitt.

I thought Dawson was the D-Line coach?

Yeah, you're right.  Typo on my part.

It's all good. Kind of hard to keep all these new names straight

He's definitely a BC lean but hopefully Frost and his crew can somehow flip him...

I think he’s a VT lean actually.

Hopefully a Nebraska lean after his visit. Would be a major get for our defense.

SR stats: 88 tackles, 14.5 TFL, 11.5 sacks

See, this ^^^ is why (to me anyway) recruiting rankings are crazy and shouldn't really be used to determine "talent level."  This kid is rated as the 10th, 21st, and 50th "best" OLB.  I mean that is quite a wide disparity in terms of evaluation.  Sorry not trying to derail this thread...

So the real reason I'm posting here is to ask if he is related to Stanley Jean-Baptist?  How many Jean-Baptists can there be?  After all, it's not like the last name is Smith or Johnson.

He would be Ohio St's 20th 4* or better player. We currently have 3

FYI - OSU is currently at 86 schollys

This will likely change by the draft deadline for underclassmen

The 86 already accounts for 3 NFL departures.

They may matter, but you wanna see how many 4-star recruits the UCF (that just went undefeated and beat Auburn) had in 20142015 and 2016???

Coaching, conditioning, and scheme/game plan accounts for something also.

Absolutely, but you need both to compete year in and year out.

Moved a bunch of posts here.

Sorry Mav.

Back on topic. Jaws, any knowledge if he's a priority in OSU's board or if he's a plan B?

I only know what I read on sites like elevenwarriors and what @birm says on twitter. I don't search very hard for recruiting info.

"Tyler Friday is without a doubt the staff’s top target, but instead of putting all of their eggs in one basket, they offered a scholarship on Tuesday afternoon to fellow New Jersey four-star Javontae Jean-Baptiste."

String of Friday to OSU predictions today. I hope, selfishly, he takes Javontae's spot.

Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the update.

I am curious, how many remaining spots could tOSU actually have available? OSU already signed 22 and they're going after a 5* OT Petite- Frere, 4* OL Walker, that 4* DT Tyler Friday and a .91 overall DE USC commit.. Do they only have 3 spots left?

Thought someone said they sit at 86 right now.

If I am Frost, I would sell him on the Griffin role and being a pass rush specialist. Also selling him on early playing time compared to Ohio State.

Schaefer, Bruntz, and BC all said this is how the staff should sell Nebraska to JJP.  The length of time they’ve been recruiting him and playing a role like Griffin.
