The o-line has been bad, but I don’t think the RBs are all that special.

None of them are break defenders ankles great, but they aren't nearly as bad as they look. First off none of them really ever got into rhythm, one game one RB would start and get a load of carries, the next game it would be someone else and you wouldn't see the previous RB for weeks. Couple that with terrible O-Line play and the RB situation was a mess, but the talent in there.

Tre Bryant and JD Spielman were my favorite newcomers.  Could tell they would be good early on in the season.  I hope Tre makes it back.  Even if his capacity is limited would like to see him get to contribute.

Tre, to some degree,   equals Adam Taylor, i fear.

Tre was a strong runner for having the knee issues.    My biggest concern about him running in frosts offense isn't his knee though, it's his hips.   Maybe it was an effect of the knee problem, but I've never seen a running back who has such a lag between his hip movement and his feet when he cuts.  Against faster defenses he is going to have a hard time changing directions if that issue doesn't improve. Better backs use their shoulders and upper body to initially change their momentum.  Defenders are taught to read a runners hips.

Spielman and Morgan in this system will be fun to watch if Stanley stays.

I think all we have to go off of is a single coment from Riley about Tre's 'lingering knee issue'.

I don't think we can count that as law.  And I don't think we know how devastating or chronic his knee issue is.

I think until we hear it from Frost or Bryant himself...we should probably not believe what Riley said.  He could have meant 'lingering this year' and not 'lingering all the time'.

Sounds like the issue goes back to his HS days, so I would consider that 'lingering all the time'

Please give us a link with proof it goes back there and I'll be right there with ya.

Proof or it's just a narrative

Here is an article after a press conference after the Oregon game.

Riley's comments are that Bryant's bad knee is older than his age, and something that he's had since he arrived at NU.  You may not believe Riley, but it sounds like an issue that's been on-going for a couple years.  Bryant was limited in preseason camp, and sounds like his knee swells up after extensive activity.  They are hoping the surgery done in October is able to relieve the knee pain issue.

Yeah, still don't but that it is chronic... High school inures don't get resolved often.

Example...I had a bum knee entering into college ball.  Once I arrived and reaggravated it, the trainers sent me to a specialist who examined, diagnosed, and fixed my issue.  I was then fine the rest of my college career.

Just because you arrive with a niggling injury, does not mean it's all over for you.

As I said, all of this is connectors based on one sentence from Mike Riley.

It really just sounds like you don't want to believe what people have said about Bryant.  You asked for a link, and I sent you what people have said about Bryant's knee.  I understand that you have personal experience, and Bryant could be in a similar situation, but I don't think it's reasonable to say "Bryant will be 100% fine after his surgery."
