I like this kid. I think frost will take 2 backs. I hope the offer still stands with Cain .

It would be borderline insane for us to not have our scholarship stand with Cain.. It would be great to re-offer him to remind him he has our offer but we'd be dumb to tell him "nope, we don't want one of the best RB's in the country."

I think he is one of the better backs on our board. This could develop well.

Really liked his visit.  Said he talks to Frost and Held quite a bit.

Said Boston College, Rutgers, North Carolina State and Mississippi are other schools recruiting him the hardest.

Said he didn't have a list of favorites but if he did Nebraska would be near the top.

No other visits scheduled due to track season.  Said he runs a 10.5 100m and 21.4 200.  That'll do.

Shaefer Crystal Ball for Nebraska

Gut feeling, his least confident CB.

Relationship is very good right now, but a lot of east coast teams are lingering.

I think its funny to see the different comments from everyone on here. Johnson is a .89 4 star. Bivens is a .83 3 star. Some say they would rather have Bivens- but if we took Bivens commitment over johnson I am sure there would be tons of people saying man we need to get better players- we can settle for 2-low 3 star RB's in this class.

Bivens is .8884, so yeah.

Also, Bivens is ranked higher than Johnson on 247. I would like to take both, but I don't know if we have room for 3 RB. Both would be good gets.

247 Composite johnson is .89 4 star- Bivens is .88 3 star. He must have gotten a good bump. Last i saw on bivens profile on this site it said .83

It's odd that the other RB who was a JR at the same HS with Johnson had way more carries - both same production. Other kid also has a way smaller offer list

I mentioned before that I liked this kid. To expound on that a little more; I will say that he is right now a much better outside runner than he is inside. He does fit our offense very well. He has track speed and that is a premium as we all know. His acceleration is elite. My only issue with him is his inside running and hip flexion. His back slumps when he gets in his stance. Thats a clear indicator that he's stiff in his hips. He doesn't make guys miss very often and he loses speed when he has to make a move. Don't get me wrong, he is perfect for an offense that allows guys to crease the Defense.

I have been outspoken about Bivens because I think he's all around a better player. He has great hips, very good speed, and great balance. Bivens is one of the best RB's I have seen in a while. Whether he runs inside or outside, it doesn't matter. His rating is incredibly inaccurate if you ask me. I would put him against any HS RB in the country, and I doubt I would find many that are better than him. Lastly, if he were on our roster today, I believe he would jump a few guys. Thats how high I am on him.

I was more impressed with Bivens as well. I still think people better get ready for Miles Jones. Kid is way underrated and will make big plays for us in the future rushing, receiving, and returns. Johnson has the speed, just needs to polish a few football things. Could be a playmaker for us

You're right about Jones. I have him slotted as a contributor right away. He is going to push Tyjon and JD this summer. No doubt about it.

How do you guys think Maurice Washington factors in the RB room?

Follow up question. What is both your thoughts on our current commit for this class Thomas Grayson Vs. the 2 other guys in johnson and bivens we are looking at. Would you take bivens and johnson over Grayson or would you take Grayson plus 1?

Frost has shown that he likes to spread the ball around. We don't have a 'main' guy right now so I think he will see a decent amount of carries this season

I know this isn't directed at me, but the guys at 247 think there is a chance we would take all 3 if they wanted N.

Going into next year we only scholly RB's we have:

Bell - Sr

Bradley - Jr

Washington - RsFr/Soph

That said, I doubt all 3 would want N.

I could see that. But keep in mind too we have flexibility because I wont be surprised if we see Miles Jones, Tyjon and JD used as the DUCK R- which steals runs from the RB too. So it kind adds carries and depth to that position.

But in my mind as far as a true RB position- Maurice Washington is the highest rated guy we have had in awhile right? .92 247 rating. Who is the last guy we had rated that high or higher?

We also might land Dedrick Mills (juco) - bigger back. Had over 700 rushing yards, 12 TD at G Tech as a freshman. I don't see us taking 3 but it's possible given our low RB scholly count next year

Frost's offense may have a featured back, but there won't be a "workhorse". I think they'll get three if they can. Frost wants to change the RB room and change it fast.

If I'm being brutally honest, I think Maurice puts multiple guys in that room on the bench. He is the talent that cannot sit. If you allow me to be more brutally honest, once it clicks for him, I don't think you will see much of Mikale, Jaylin, or Ozigbo (and I like Divine a lot). Bell needs to be the guy going in. Maurice will get his touches and so will Jones. Mix in JD and Tyjon, and you start to see how guys will get left out.

I like Thomas Grayson. He appears light on his feet, and is a great fit for our offense. If I compare him to Johnson, I would say they are very similar but give Johnson the nod in speed. They both appear to be great outside runners and I give Grayson the edge on the inside (tape shows more).  Grayson seems to be a little better in traffic. If I compare him to Bivens, the speed looks about equal. Bivens has better agility and hip flexion. Grayson is no slouch though. He is a great fit. I'm looking forward to his senior year, and I expect the local schools to sniff around.

I know I will get some backlash for this but I am disappointed with Mikale and Jaylin. Both look too big, especially Mikale. I don't think Jaylin has anything special to his game, at least for now. I know once summer workouts happen, they will become better conditioned and drop some of the fat. Still, serious talent is filling up that room, and I don't see how those guys can fend them off.

He is the highest RB since Terrell Newby in 2013 who was .9404

I think Maurice might be the perfect Duck-R because that guy can run some routes.  He is going to put a lot of stress on defenses running and receiving.  And can we get new terminology?  Maybe Husk-R :D, instead of referring to some other team's mascot.

Wilbon did average 5.4 yards per carry, so I think the jury is still out on him.  Bradley was a little disappointing in that he didn't capitalize on his opportunities, but there could be a multitude of circumstances when you only see 1 practice.  Austin Rose again capitalized on his limited opportunities in a spring game.  I wonder what the deal is with him that he never moved up the depth chart.

Here is my issue with Wilbon. Aside from his body, he runs tentative. He doesn't just go. He stops his feet when contact comes. It is like he has stage fright and underperforms during games. If you watch his H.S. tape, you wonder where all that ability went. He looked phenomenal.

Mills did  do well for a true frosh at GT and it would be good to have a physical back in the mix to provide thump like Royce Freeman did for the Oregon O.

If was just a hypothetical question they were asked. I think the chances of it actually happening are slim to none.

I'd be hesitant to compare many bigger backs to Freeman, pre-injury he was special.

Not saying he will be Royce, just saying that even in an offense of this type it's good to have a guy with tough, inside running ability.

How many backs can we take in this class ? I know we lose 3 backs this year. I would love to see Johnson in this class. He looks special .

I was thinking the same thing the other day.

Already have 1, starting to get CB’s for Johnson, and were really interested in Bivens and Hall.

If if we took 3...

2019 would look like...

SR Bell

JR Bradley

SR Bryant

SO Jones

SO

RFR- Moses Bryant (Frost told him if he got his work done he would be on scholly I think)

SO Washington

Bryant does have health concerns and Bryant could play another position and Jones isn’t a true RB. So it really wouldn’t be crazy to see Frost take 3 this cycle.

The nice thing about Breece Hall is that we can take him as an ATH and find a spot.  Believe he also plays safety.

I wouldn't mind frost taking 3. Is Washington even gonna play at all ? I would like to see him red shirt . Bradley looked good in the spring game from what I seen.

It’s hard to tell right now who will play. I’d assume Moses will redshirt for sure. Possibly Washington too. I think the pre-fall camp consensus is Jones will be a player.

Ive also said all along we should “redshirt” Bryant this year to heal up and be 100% if possible.

Yeah , I seen something on YouTube Omaha sports I think it was but anyways they said the coaches was looking for that duck back. I'm sure Jones will be that guy. If he is the guy like I think , Martinez will prolly be the qb. I like Martinez but boy Gebbia has a great arm. He made a pass last year in the spring game with a deep pass and it sold me. But I think Martinez with Jones in the backfield with bell would be lethal .
