zoogs
We're going to look back on this brief era where we decided it'd be easiest to designate an arbitrary "playoff committee" and pretend they are a subjective, singular authority on the best teams as a crazy and roundabout solution to a very simple problem. Look at the NFL. Worthy teams miss the playoffs sometimes, but those are the breaks. We accept that with a field that large, some teams are in wildcard slots that are pretty arbitrary but at the same time, if they can make noise and get through the field, then bully for them. It will be the same with at large slots in an expanded NCAA field. It's a big deal when we have 12-0 teams or 1-loss teams just barely missing out on the top 4. The lines between a #8 and #13 are much more blurred, but we can understand that this is random. The lowest seeds are lucky to get in, and all of the teams in that random range could have made it less random by doing better during the season. Anyway, I don't get the gripe about Alabama being in the title game. This is a team that would have gotten in with any expanded playoff field. And having gotten in, they more than earned their place by knocking off #1 Clemson. Grats to the Tide and the Dawgs. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
The last two years have been better games so hopefully that continues. But it's kind of surprising how often the national championship game is not that close. 2014 - Ohio State 42, Oregon 20 2012 - Bama 42, Notre Dame 14 2011- Bama 21, LSU 0 2009 - Bama 37, Texas 21 2007 - LSU 38, Ohio State 24 2006 - Florida 41, Ohio State 14 2004 - USC 55, Oklahoma 19 2001 - Miami 37, Nebraska 14 1999 - Florida State 46, Virginia Tech 29 1997 - Nebraska 42, Tennessee 17 1995 - Nebraska 62, Florida 24 Quote Link to comment
suh_fan93
Leave it to Alabama to have a horribly blatant face mask penalty against them with a ref literally staring down the play itself get missed only to have them get the ball back and score. Such horse sh#t. In a national championship game of all things. Unbelievable. Nice 80 yard TD by Georgia just now to go up 20-7. Bama' still has the refs to always help change their momentum though. Go Dawgs. Edited January 9, 2018 by suh_fan93 Quote Link to comment
jaws
I'm not watching the game but they did show this at some point during the game. When did this happen? I remember the Rose Bowl but I don't remember OSU ever claiming a NC. Quote Link to comment

mrandyk
Alabama probably wouldn't even grant just one game in Tuscaloosa. Quote Link to comment
