if they have beat the team that beat both teams in the championship game...heck ya.

It is 2018 and I still can't believe that we have this dumb way of figuring out a national championship in D1 FBS football. This should have been fixed 40 years ago.

FCS has had a playoff for decades, and managed to get the two best teams in the title game this year. There's too much money wrapped up in bowl games and the CFB playoff to ever reset it to something that is both fair AND makes sense.

I didnt watch the game but saw this morning that Bama won the SEC championship game in overtime. That puts the SEC at 5-6 this bowl season and the BIG at 7-1.

Yes, but the two best teams last year played in the semi-final, NDSU-JMU.  But I get the point.

Just remember, this committee will screw up a play off of 8 as well.  The end of the day, not playing the SEC championship game helped Alabama.  They got a lot of players healthy.  Let go back to the pre-BCS era!  <ducks for cover>

This is true; the title game would have at least had 2 vs. 4 last year had a certain someone not used all the luck in the world to break up the party.

There's not much to screw up if they go 5 P5 champions plus 3 at large, with the caveat that an unbeaten G5 team automatically gets the 8 seed (if they aren't ranked higher).
