Judging by what they got for him, not many teams were looking to add Bennett. I am not as big of a fan of Bennett after the video surfaced that showed he didnt give cops an option and yet made it sound like he was racially sterotyped, I also think that people that tell any athlete to keep their mouth shut and just play the game dont get it. Plenty of athletes come from areas where racial profiling is an issue and by them being elite at what they do they now have a stage to help support the community they came from. It would be wrong to turn your back on your community just because the NFL doesnt like the message you are sharing. If you have a voice and a place to share it, I am all for it. The message gets clouded at times but that shouldnt stop people from trying to get equality. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
The Patriots apparently offered a 3rd (I'm surprised they didn't take that one). Seems like there was interest, but on top of being a distraction the guy is what, 32, after all... To be outspoken is to become a distraction in a rigid system that must be managed, or purged. I think that's kind of an unfortunate reality but it's how it is. The NFL prizes the keep your head down mentality, internally. Players who get too activist-y don't have enough focus on what's really important, the success of The Team. The Patriot Way, and all that. Something I've seriously soured on. Quote Link to comment
