FrantzHardySwag
From Shatel.... "He wasn’t loud or boisterous or showy. He was a character because of his stories, his way of spreading philosophy on everything. But more than that, it was that boyish twinkle in his eye, that would show up in Omaha each June at just the right time, when we all needed to be reminded why we loved eight teams full of kids running it out, and sunshine and families and autographs and ice cream and a great, great game. Every year at the CWS, I will forever see Garrido’s twinkle. And I will hope that Fullerton comes to Omaha. And I will always root for them to wear blue" You were a legend. 3 Quote Link to comment
Xmas32
I was a little bummed when I heard of Augie's passing. As a kid I went to way more than my fair share of CWS games and I saw Augie's CSF teams play quite a few times. I look back fondly on those long summer days and the time I spent with family and friends while spending time at the Blatt. In a small way, he'll be a part of the fabric of the my childhood. On a side note, I had no clue he coached Illinois for a few years. RIP good sir. Quote Link to comment
