Recruiting: State by State Breakdown

Recommended Posts

I was bored and wanted to take a closer look at in-state recruiting for P5 teams. Made a metric scale on composite ratings per player - also subtracted points if other D1 schools in your state and divided the total number by other P5 teams in your state. I understand some states are in a region where border states have been established or are 'hot beds'. Some P5 teams aren't quite as equal either. If you could only recruit in your state, what type of recruiting numbers are we looking at for P5 schools?

Not sure if this subject has been brought up somewhere on this board yet but I am curious (not good enough researcher to try to find it out myselve somehow - btw) but, as it has been about 20 to 25 years since the national championship years when the program was literally loaded to the roof with superior talent, it would seem that Frost ought to be really focusing hard on 'legacy' recruiting.   The must be a whole bunch of sons of former Huskers out there to recruit and bring in the next generation of champions!

Not sure how but maybe the department can contact the players from the classes of 1993 to 2000 and be sure we don't miss on any of those players.  There ought to about hundred or more prospects right there!

@84HuskerLaw, I get what you're saying and on a purely theoretical level I agree.  On a practical level, I disagree.  I want (and am quite sure) Coach Frost and this staff will go after the players that fit their system the beat.

Legacy players are good to have in thought, but I agree that you can't recruit those guys specifically over other players.  That's not to say that there aren't sons of former players that aren't worth scholarship offers, but it shouldn't be an "automatic".  I did think Clester Johnson should have gotten a scholarship offer, as he went to Wyoming.  I am not sure of any other sons that are coming through the high school ranks in the next couple of years.
