ColoradoHusk
Well what do you get when you combine poor Pelini recruiting with crappy player development under Riley, a 4-8 season with 1 player drafted. Frost took over an 0-12 team and gets to 13-0 and sees 4 guys drafted from that team 2 years later. Quote Link to comment

Seeing the sharp contrast between UCF and Nebraska in this year's draft just drives home the point that in most cases, NFL caliber players are made in the weight room. Not many kids make it to the league on pure talent alone. 2 Quote Link to comment

In addition to the weight room, I agree and think the prospects of Nebraska's players actually receiving competent coaching is the most exciting thing to look forward to. 3 Quote Link to comment

I don't think Gates gets drafted and if does (somehow) I don't see him making an NFL team. Players who excel in the NFL bust their humps in the weight and film rooms. Gates has never been that kind of player. So while I earnestly wish him well, I will be extremely shocked if he even makes a roster in the fall. 1 Quote Link to comment

Gates is exactly the kind of player Frost would turn from UDFA to drafted, but there's no free lunch. I see most people assuming he would have lacked the work ethic, which may have been the case. Coaches have a way of letting guys go that aren't making the cut, without making a scene of it. He left, but linemen can absolutely make an NFL team this way, they just have to show they have something of value. Given his play last year and his horrible combine numbers, he's got some work to do. Quote Link to comment
