Decker Stepping Away from Football

Recommended Posts

Whatever reason(s) these young men have for exiting the program, I wish them nothing but the best going forward.

And honestly, if a young man decides his commitment level isn't there, I completely respect his decision to walk away.  I would rather someone leave, rather than have him stay and become a lazy player and be a distraction--or worse become a voice of discontent.

Totally agree...they want to leave, good for them.  Do what is best for you and enjoy it.  Period

Sounds like the staff has been prepping Farmer to move to center which would open up a spot for Wilson at guard.

Yes, can pencil-in Farmer as our starting center this season. Wilson should be a decent starter at guard but having to start him is a considerable blow to our depth. We are thin and the season hasn't even started yet.

Looks like Warmack is headed to Oregon to play for Cristobal, the guy that recruited him to bama.

Very well said. Similar to @NUinID, I stopped playing football because my heart just wasn't in it anymore and I could already start to feel my drive failing. Sometimes, it's best to acknowledge that and step away from everything with the understanding that you're ultimately helping your team get better.

I think that everyone that quits (pretty much anything) does so because they just aren't super into it anymore, some people just do a better job of explaining themselves.

When I quit sand volleyball I blamed it on the fact that we went from league champs to league chumps...but in reality (besides that fact that the new people on my team were horrible and couldn't hit the ball over the net) I just really didn't feel like playing anymore.  I wanted to be able to concentrated on drinking but NOT playing.
