Media days are here, so it's officially Talkin' Season. Call your shot via the polls, and copy/paste the schedule with what you think for each game. If you can, try to put it in quotes, and I'm going to lock this thread the week before the season starts, and see how our predictions fare compared to the "experts" at the end of the season.

Big Ten West Division

1. Wisconsin

2. Iowa

3. Nebraska

4. Northwestern

5. Purdue

6. Minnesota

7. Illinois

Final prediction: 8-4

I'm bullish on the team, because I think we vastly underperformed the past 3 years. The CFBMatrix numbers said that Riley was -18 for his 3 years here... which is insane.

I'm sticking with the 7-5 I've predicted for a while. I don't think we beat any of the four top dogs but we have the talent and even in year-one the coaching/motivation/S&C to beat most of the rest. I think we lose one more out of Iowa,, Northwestern, or possibly Purdue.

I'm going with 8-4. I'm bullish on our home games, and think we probably compete with everyone on the road other that probably OSU and maybe Wiscy. Because of all the unknowns with this team, and the quality of our opponents, I think we will probably only go 1-4 on the road, possibly 2-3, but then drop one at home that we shouldn't or something like that.... The most likely road win being either NW or Iowa, but with the way UCF played UM in the big house during Frosts first season with them, I'm not ready to give up hope on that game.

I keep flip-flopping between 8-4 and 9-3. I just am not scared of MSU, and I think with Frost our chances of losing to the lower half teams in the Big Ten will go down.

I made a mistake when I voted, I voted for 9-3 but meant to vote for 10-2.

Here are the reasons why I think Nebraska will go 10-2...

1. The Huskers have 7 home games.

2. Nebraska beat Michigan State under Mike Riley, there's no reason to think we can't win, at home, under Coach Frost.

3. Nebraska has, according to every recruiting site, out-recruited every team they play except Ohio State and Michigan.

I think Nebraska sends a shot across the bow by rolling into Ann Arbor and upsetting Michigan.

Wisconsin is a mental block that I just don't think they'll be able to get over this year.

Ohio State is...well...still Ohio State.

And yeah I may be too foolishly optimistic, but I believe 100% in Coach Frost and think Nebraska is going to be the "surprise" team of 2018.

I super love the optimism.  I can't bring myself to a prediction on w/l.  I think i last predicted 7 wins (I'll have to go back and check), but I am waffling on whether or not to drink the koolaid or not.  We're absolutely stepping in the right direction, i am just not sure how big the resulting leap will be this first year.

If we do end up middling at 6 or 7 wins, i will say this now, that i believe the teams better get their one last shots in - things are about to change.

Amazing how if you read the comments of most of the posts on the upcoming season and team prospects, you'd would expect a poll showing about 65% at no better than 6-6 this fall and so many in the media have us worse than that.  But nearly 80% of the poll showing much better.

There are reasons to be worried about this first year in the new systems, coaches, players, etc.   Key injuries to QB, OL, etc could be devastating or if the team fails to keep the faith and gives up on the seasons half way through perhaps.   But, I will remain optimistic, absent scandal or major set backs to critical positions, etc, that we will be better than .500.   I voted 8-4 but see 9-3 as quite possible.   Wisconsin has such a favorable schedule that it is hard to imagine how we find a way to win the division.

I went with 7-5 and fourth in the west. I think Nebraska loses to Northwestern after getting banged up the week before against Wisconsin. I think they make up for it though by beating Michigan State in Lincoln. Nebraska plays Illinois the week before Michigan State. Michigan State plays Ohio State the week before Nebraska.

I also think there are reasons for optimism this year, and much more so in future years. Nebraska still has major questions marks though. How good (or bad) will the secondary be? Will they have/develop a pass rusher? Will they get solid quarterback play from a freshman?

Nebraska will probably finish the year looking much better than they do early in the season. Then they'll be really good in 2019 and beyond. This year has some bumps along the road though. Either way, I think this year will be much more fun and enjoyable to watch than recent years.
