One Reason Why Nebraska Will Win
So what’s going right so far for the winless Huskers? The pass rush has been terrific, coming up with seven sacks in the opener against Colorado, and three against Troy. The Michigan offensive line has been fine, but it’s been just okay running the ball. It’s allowing a few too many plays behind the line – at least it did against Notre Dame – and now it’s up to the Nebraska front to screw things up. Nebraska has had its chances. Yeah, big plays in key moments are what it’s all about, but this young, rebuilding team really is very, very close to being 2-0 with the narrative going the other way. The biggest issue so far for the Huskers? Giveaways. They’ve lost six turnovers so far, but Michigan’s D – as great as it is – hasn’t been forcing mistakes. Be careful with the ball, get into the backfield, and this might stay close.
One Reason Why Michigan Will Win
Nebraska is going to need good field position, and it’s probably not going to get it. Michigan punter Will Hart has been strong so far, averaging over 50 yards per kick over the first three games. Nebraska’s punting has been okay, but the return game hasn’t been non-existent, and the coverage team allowed a touchdown against Troy and is giving up an average of 15 yards per try. Nebraska’s ground game has been fun, but the offense line is giving up way too many plays in the backfield, and way too many stalled drives. The Wolverine run defense hasn’t been the rock it was over the first part of last season, but it’s only allowing 3.1 yards per carry and it’s not getting gouged. With star freshman Adrian Martinez still hurting, and this defense being challenged to come up with a big performance after giving up over 300 yards in two of the three games so far – the Wolverine D only allowed over 300 yards once over the first nine games – look out. This group should be ready to make a statement.
What’s Going To Happen
This is just the tenth showdown between the two blue bloods, with the first game a 31-0 Michigan win back in 1905. Nebraska won the last two meetings back in 2012 and 2013, and three of the last four. And it’s not going to be four in the last five. Shea Patterson will keep looking solid as he continues to improve, the passing attack will sharpen up even more against a secondary allowing passers to hit 66% of their throws so far, and everything will work just fine right away. The Michigan defense will take care of the rest with a terrific performance.

The one thing this team has going for them is there is no pressure.  If they lose they are supposed to because they are the underdog in this situation and are 0-2 in a rebuild.  If they team was 2-0 right now I would guess there is a little more pressure because now they have a chance to be 3-0 with one win coming against a ranked team.  Play the underdog role and come in and play inspired and walk out with a W.
