What Did We Learn? Michigan

Positives

- Mo Barry - he might have changed the outcome of last week if he didn’t get ejected. Love watching him play with some fire.

- Bootle - did not expect him to transform into such a good corner.

- Even though the score was bad, and Michigan brought in back-ups early, the team didn’t quit and kept hitting hard. I keep thinking of Minnesota last year, where guys obviously pulled up on tackles because they had quit.

- Mazour!!!

Negatives

- So many penalties. Really bad.

- Special teams is an F. Penalties and mistakes galore. Might be the first assistant to get replaced (whenever that may be necessary).

- Obviously, this was going to be a tough game and a likely loss. But I think we (those of us who did) talked ourselves into the possibility of a win because Michigan looked a little shaky in the trenches. They did not look shaky, even for a moment, against us. Yikes.

- I completely understood the coaches’ frustrations with the Colorado game, but part of me wonders if they let Colorado beat them twice. Don’t let Michigan beat us twice, please. Come out hungry at home and get the first win before this spirals out of control.

-Give me more guys like Mazour out there getting more playing time. I don't care if it was against Michigan's 3rd or 4th string defense. Guy went out there and ran the football with determination and even making some good yards after contact. Glad he got a touchdown.

-Offensive Line needs to be benched. All of them. Give me feel good speeches during the week, but you want to be a leader of your unit, you make sure they are all there in the weight room with you, you make sure all of them are in the film room with you, you make sure they are all putting in 100% effort to study and get better. I'm tired of the O-Line just seemingly not caring getting absolutely out manned and owned. This was more pathetic than the showing vs Tennessee in the bowl game and I remember being told by the O-Line they wanted to make sure that performance never happened again. Well maybe I am incorrect here, but there are many O-Lineman from that game that are starting this year.

-Blackshirts need to be removed for the rest of the year, or until the defense proves it can beat a somewhat quality opponent and stops making stupid penalties.

-Patience. Extremely frustrating performance, but know that it's going to get better. Must get Frost's guys in here, and quiet frankly I don't care if they are Freshman, you may just play them now.

in the bolded are you referring to coaching changes, offense scheme changes, or something else?

Good question, and I apologize I should have been more specific. Right now, just schematic changes on the offense & special teams. Not necessiarily whole sale changes, but defenitiely tweaks. Give the running backs a lead blocker, find a way to develop a more vertical passing game off of play-action.

The whole team just needs one more full offseason training with Zac Duvall's.

Both quarterbacks get a lot of respect for going out there in that environment. The Oline did them no favors. Our problem isn't scheme it's mental and that will take time.

There are very few players on that team that want the ball in their hands when the game matters. I think next year Frost goes young at the beginning while weeding out the players that don't have the appropriate mentality.

If that is the case, he needs to do it now. Some of these guys are VERY bad and are being exposed big time. That will send a message that you work hard and play hard you will get on the field.

People mistake my comments as negativity.  I’m just objective.

These coaches talked so much trash about the previous staff and haven’t shown a thing to back it up.

Is it trash talking? Or are they just simply stating the truth? This team was 4-8 last year and was/is physically weaker than their opponents and was/is mentally weaker. We are undergoing a complete cultural change and we fans did not think it could be as bad as it is showing to be right now.

Lol, this narrative again....

The media, former players, and current players themselves were the ones ripping the old staff.
