Huskers! Steelers! ...and yeah, a little bit of the Twin Cities sports scene *le sigh*.

Computers, books, pit bulls (own & support of rescues). Went to Kanab, Utah to see one of the rescue orgs that took in Michael Vick's dogs.

  1. It is painfully apparent that you don't have the foggiest idea what happened or there is no way you could say he's a classy guy that made an honest mistake. The graduate assistant saw Sandusky engaged in sodomy, met with his father and then for some reason decided to go to JoePa--I'd speculate because JoePa essentially was the father to PSU sports. JoePa (instead of reporting this to the police) met with the AD the next day--and here the language gets unclear in the grand jury report: "the graduate assistant had seen Jerry Sandusky in the Lasch Building showers fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy." How does sodomy turn into 'fondling or doing something'? Exactly what did Joe Paterno hear from the semi-ironically named McQueary? On it went up the chain until it reached the university president, who is required by PA law to notify the state: http://law.onecle.co...63.011.000.html This is more or less what happened. His reputation and legacy and PSU are irrevocably stained, but yeah, I'll give hm the benefit of the doubt until I hear otherwise. I'm not trying to absolve him of blame, but at the same time I absolutely do not consider him a monster.
  2. PSU has always been classy, except for that diss on Pittsburgh residents. Actually, who cares about the residents; only the Steelers matter! [edit] I feel bad about JoePa - he's a classy guy--still culpable, but an honest mistake (IMO, I don't know exactly what happened.) PSU overall is still classy, the whiteout at the stadium kicks ass, and I hope it looks like blood flowing with all the Husker fans in attendance! Heh
  3. That's an inspirational poster for Oregon's uniform design.
  4. You're only here because of Lil Red. Admit it.
  5. Some looked better, some looked awful--one pass had me crying with laughter because of how contorted TMart was. I couldn't believe that he kept his feet afterwards. But whatever, he had a pretty decent game and as soft as NFW was playing, I expected even more passes. Get the ball in the WRs hands and they can make people miss, and with 8 in the box NFW was ripe for the plucking. Too bad it didn't work out that way--Bell's drops and the two fumbles really killed momentum in the first half. Martinez' inaccuracy and lack of touch doesn't help, but in the end I'd prefer him to be more elusive when running. He ran pretty strong yesterday which was a nice change.
  6. I always respected PSU for their class and integrity; I'm sick that the college--and Paterno's legacy--is going to be tarnished. There aren't many squeaky clean colleges that are a major factor in college ball, and losing one will make a small group that much smaller. (Most importantly are the children that were molested and punishing Sandusky, but that goes without saying.)
  7. The valedictorian was having sex with the English teacher, the prom king shot someone the other night and the starting varsity is all getting paid under the table. Analogies and NCAA violations by SEC teams go hand in hand.
  8. One of the LBs was nearly always sitting in the middle with eyes on Persa/Colter/Siemien or anyone coming out of the backfield. Problem is, Persa and Colter are both fast, and Persa made some smart runs in the first half. Coverage was usually solid so there were times he'd have to run or got sacked--and that got Persa knocked out of the game. Colter had 17 runs for 57 yards, not necessarily the problem in the game, albeit with some very timely runs. There was no single area of concern on either side of the ball, just a pretty flat performance all around. David was mostly in coverage.
  9. Beck called the first half was called pretty well, Subtract a couple of fumbles and it's 13-7 or 17-7 at the half.
  10. What was with the crowd counting along with the play clock? The blue hairs people complain about probably yelled themselves out in the '60s and have been attending games since.
  11. Bell dropped a couple of nice gainers in the first half, too. Receivers dropping catchable balls ages me. [edit] Siemian looked pretty comfortable coming out in the second half. NW has enviable depth at QB.
  12. Reed managed to be the primary read and got flagged for ineligibile downfield in one play. I think Kinnie covered him on the LOS--Pelini was yelling at him after the play. Other than that...
  13. I'd like to see the Huskers play for the Big Ten title this year. If it doesn't happen, so be it.
  14. I'm curious to know how many coaches pull their starters because they got banged up some playing football the week before. For that matter, I wonder how many starters would say 'yes, I want to sit' when asked.
