  1. I'd like to know of any place as well... I don't have DirectTV, so any place that will have the game on would be beneficial.
  2. I'm an officer, but I've been an NCO in two services (Marines and Air Force). It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up... still haven't made a decision yet, ha!
  3. Well, as some of you might now, I am in the Air Force and spent Jan - May in Balad, Iraq. I had a great time, probably one of the best experiences of my life, but I am glad to be back home with my family. I recently changed assignments, moving from Charleston AFB, to Ames, Iowa. I'll be teaching at the University in the Air Force ROTC program. I'll be here probably around 3 years. I'm excited; I love teaching, and most of all, I love being back in Big 12 country. I'll get to view more Big 12 games on TV, as well as attend some Nebraska games (in Lincoln where I am from), as well as some ISU games here on campus. I already purchased 3 tickets here at ISU. They had a special $99 deal that I couldn't pass up. I get: Kent State at Iowa State Nebraska at Iowa State Missouri at Iowa State It'll be weird; the only other Big 12 game I've been to live is the Big 12 Championship between K-State and Oklahoma... Still, I can't wait to cheer for my Huskers again! Did I say I was excited? GO BIG RED!
  4. Uh... I would say my time at work from 6:30am to 5:00pm.. I spend 3 - 4 hours browsing multiple husker related boards and sites...
  5. Wouldn't that be something? A guy with Nebraska tradition and a consistent NFL defensive genius. Check out this article written about him in 2003. http://www.sptimes.com/2003/01/18/Columns/...__Genius_.shtml He's older, but he's healthy and full of energy for a man half his age.
  6. Haha, good advice. Man, I am so looking forward to this... and the kicker is I get to deploy to Iraq for 4 months before I sell my house, buy a new one, and move the family a month later!
  7. So I am in the Air Force... and I found out today that I was selected to be an ROTC Professor for Iowa State University... Now I'm a die-hard, red-bleeding, corn-eating, ruff-n-tuff CORNHUSKER from my head to my toes... and I plan on showing it every fricken time I can while on campus. The great news about this job is that I'll be 3 hours from Lincoln (and grandparents who can watch my kids) . Of course the bad part is that I'll be surrounded by 'clones. I'll be able to attend games, visit family, and damn if I am super excited about that! So, where is the best place to meet with husker fans close to Ames? Should I just drive to Omaha... if I do that, I might as well head to Lincoln! DAMNIT THIS ROCKS! WOOHOO!!!
  8. Hey guys, My new boss, a Colonel from Florida, is a huge Florida Gators fan. He has a lot of pictures and gator stuff in his office, and we've already had some fun jabbing about football. Can anyone offer me some sites that list facts about Florida football and Nebraska football, i.e. things like # of championships, # of Heisman winners, Academic All Americans, etc... Anything that I can use in a funn 'sheet' to give him highlighting Nebraska over Florida. Thanks in advance!
  9. I am in South Carolina, at Charleston AFB, only 4 hours away! Where can I purchase tickets?
  10. In watching the OU vs. NU game, the announcers mentioned something about OU's defense. They said that Stoops felt it was MUCH more important to have the Defense work on speed than it was to work on schemes. So, with those thoughts, he has his #1 Defense go against his #1 Offense, instead of the typical #Defense vs. the Scout Team. Additionally, IIRC, Peleni was similar. He had a very simplified Defense that let the players play the game instead of having to think of complicated schemes. If you have to think before acting, then you are already at a disadvantage. In today's game, offenses are much more capable. If you play a Defense that is reactive, I think you set up for failure. Think about it this way. I'd say 9 out of 10 times, if I am on Offense and running a route, I can move faster than a DB, not necessarily because I am faster, but because he has to react to my movements, which can also be misdirected. So, what am I saying? Well, I am in no way a football expert. But, I think we need to go to this type of philiosophy. I think our D-Line and Linebackers should do WAY more blitzing, becoming proactive (instead of reactive), and I think our secondary should play very simple schemes that puts them in position to play against an opponents passing and recieving weaknesses. Oh well, I just felt like ranting.
  11. I actually agree with you. It gets very old hearing the same old stuff over and over again from coaches and from sports analysts. Like you said, when coaches are asked about another team, all you hear is political crap. When coaches are asked about players, or about how the game went, you hear political crap. What makes college football so great is the EMOTION from these kids, and I personally like having my coaches the same way. I enjoyed it when Pelini took away blackshirts from players, when he yelled at officials, and when he yelled at other coaches.
  12. In our only away game this season, we saw a gameplan that everyone questioned; run the ball. Do you think it might be a smart gameplan vs ISU, or do you think we'll plan to go against their poor secondary defense.... It seems obvious to us that we would attack their defensive backfield, but how many times have things appeared obvious to us fans, but Cally did something totally different? So what do you think Cally will do and what would you want us to do?
  13. Callahan is 2 - 6 in Big 12 road games. We just showed some major weaknesses in defense. What will your reaction be if the Huskers go 0 - 4 in our next 4 games (3 away, 1 at home against Texas)? I don't think it will happen, but what would happen in Husker nation?
  14. Anyone tell me what it says for Summerville, South Carolina area (Time Warner Cable). I can't access the map from work....
  15. Something that I am really, really starting to worry about is the attitude of our defense. If you think about it, many husker fans (a most knowledgeable bunch) are really questioning the playcalling of Cosgrove. Why? Because it 'appears' to us, the fans, and even many sportswriters, that Nebraska is not playing to our strengths. I am just wondering if this attitude will start filtering its way into the players.... Hearing comments from our players, such as: "Our hands were tied" "Miscommunication" "We've got to get some things straightened out" Also, playing a 4-3 defense, making our linebackers play DBs and forcing our d-linemen to hold back for fear of a run up the gut, has got to make the players second guess the playcalling. I hope this game doesn't cause any dissension and I hope the seniors are in the middle making sure it doesn't, but I also hope that Cosgrove starts pinning his ears back a little. I saw fire and desire in OT from the defense.... from the d-line and linebackers. Why? Because they got to do what they are good at; do what they are really meant to do... try and eat the quarterback. In my honest, but hopefully wrong opinion, if we continue to play this way against other Big 12 teams, we are going to lose. I mean come on.... I blitz nearly every down in NCAA Football 2006 and I kill my oponents....
