  1. This is my two cents: Eichorst spent some time in Madison before taking the Miami job. He was under Alvarez who I think had some influence in his decision to come to Nebraska. Coming back to the Midwest and the Big 10. I think a pro style pound the ball type of offense mind makes a lot of sense in November. The success Mich St, Wisconsin and even Minnesota has had recently proves that. I think a coach that has had some experience is important too. BO was never a HC before Nebraska. My guess is former OC at Wisconsin and HC of Pitt Paul Chryst. Makes sence and completely different than BO. Almost the complete opposite. Anyway who the hell knows just sharing my thought. GBR
  2. We are bigger up front on O and D. At all times during this game we will have the best player on the field. This game will come down to execution. If we have a clean game or limit the mistakes to a minimum we will win. We have had success against this team in the past. We know it and they know it. Offensively we are going to run the ball and mix in some play action. If they load the box which I think they will Bell, Westerkamp and company have to get seperation and make them pay. If you burn them early they wont be so willing to stack the box. I also expect a trick play...Bo dosent do these things but Saturday is where I could see it happen. Defensively I believe we get after them. Bringing more than they can block and playing almost press coverage when blitzing. We need to speed up Cook when he drops in the pocket. We need to hit him early and often. Need to let him know we are coming all 4 quarters. If the Blackshirts play with good technique and dont do anything out of the norm and play assignment football I think we can frustrate Sparty by creating 3rd and longs. Were not going to shut them out or anything but if you can limit them to 25 or so that is a job well done. The other thing....were the dog and no one is picking us. MSU is the home team with No 10 ranking in the country coming off a Rose Bowl victory all the pressure is on them. This isnt the be all end all either, theyre not even in our division. They have everything to lose and we have everything to gain. We are a confident group that isnt getting any attention as an underdog. This is a great position to be in.
  3. I say we do it on the first 2nd and short. Dont want an incomplete pass so its 2nd and 10 on the first drive of the game
  4. BEND BUT DONT BREAK. Give up FGs not TDs. 3rd down defense and RZ defense I think is the key to this game. They have to be able to get off the field on 3rd down.
  5. Kool aid keg stands on on a Tuesday morning, I love it!
  6. The way FSU has struggled to snake out wins againts Clemson and NC ST Im not so sure they get the nod in to the playoffs if they lose to say Notre Dame Couple that with TxA&M, Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss are all from the same division so they all have to play each other. Only 1 of this group of four can be undefeated if any at all...and everyone in the East has already lost... The winner of Oklahoma and Baylor will get one spot unless the winner of this game slips up along the way.... Oregon/UCLA seem to be the cream of the PAC12 but either could get beat. Oregon beats UCLA but Stanford beats Oregon or USC could play spoiler not to mention the PAC12 champ game as well There is to many games left to really predict what is going to happen.... I mean for god sakes Boston College beat USC a couple weeks ago. I will say this, if there is an undefeated team from the power conference that is 13-0 with a perfect record and a conference championship regardless who it is they will trump a 1 loss team. I just dont see in the first year of the playoff this happeneing where the commitee will reward a 1 loss anybody over an undefeated conference champ. They would be setting themselves up for failure in future years and setting a bad precedent in year one. I could be wrong but thats how I see it. Here is to Nebraska being that 13-0 conference champ. It starts Saturday at Sparty. GBR!
  7. I wouldnt mind if we got Chris Clark the TE recruit
  8. Love it! When everbody loves the favorite and the line keeps growing give me the other side. Vegas even thinks were better than the public.... I wont play it but I like what I see. With that said I could give a damn about the number if we dont win.
  9. Westerkamp, Valentine, Cooper, Mikale Wilbon, Matt Finnin, Tanner Farmer and now Brokop. Illinois has been very good to us!
  10. Watching last nights game Skins vs Giants I noticed 7 Huskers on either the Giants or Redskins roster

  11. I dont think Illinois can stop the run and definately not Nebraska's running game.Illinois's offensive strength is passing the ball which is our specialty on defense in nickle and dime. I think we get up early running the ball and that front 4-7 will come after their QB and force some turnovers. Bad spot for Illinois. Lay the points. Huskers roll 55-17
  12. We go thru this every year with a recruit or two..when you have a recruit this talented and this gifted you should expect major programs to call on a daily basis. The fact of the matter is that he has verbaled to Nebraska and did so a while ago. He obviously likes the program, his parents have obviously supported his decision in selecting Nebraska and I also believe that he has a better relationship with our coaching staff than any other team in the country. The way we run the ball and the way we are playing as a team will only make it more difficult for others. I think he is a young man that has an incredible work ethic and possesses great character and has a great support staff around him. Im not concerned and look forward to his name being the first one faxed in in February. GBR!
  13. Hopefully he can see thru the BS ASU is feeding him. Nebraska is telling you what you need to hear and ASU is telling Jaason what he wants to hear. I have serious doubts that he will play RB in the PAC 12 at 6-4 250. He is only a senior in HS, by the time he fills out I believe he could be a very skilled DE or TE/WR not RB. Unless his height is incorrect on this page Im just not buying it.
  14. Ive seen Illinois several times and its not pretty. Having 4th quarter deficits but eventually winning against the mighty 1-AA Youngstown St, Western Kentucky and Texas State. I live in the same town as where Illinois starting QB Wes Lunt went to HS. Had about 30 offers and ended up starting several games at Oklahoma St as a true freshman before transferring. There is some talent on this team but this shouldnt be close unless Nebraska decides to play like they did against McNeese St. Last week we rediscovered our idenity in running the ball. I would argue from a talent perspective Miami may be the most talented team we see through the regular season schedule. There not the most well coached team but they may be one of the most talented. If we struggle against Illinois it will be our own undoing and not Illinois. I think we roll but I have thought that before in these type of games. Side note: We have given up 3 Tds in 4 games on the opening drive. I was curious what others thought? Scripted plays against a base defense is what I think but we need to get this figured out before Sparty. GBR!
