I like the effort from the coaching staff on this one... Have to be relentless in recruiting these guys in neighboring states.

This is stating the obvious but this is a huge target for this staff... Coach Cav will be visiting again tomorrow.

I used to be a Bo supporter... 180 degrees after today. It took a while for me to come around. I always wanted to give Bo the benefit of the doubt, hoping that we would finally get over the 9-4 hump. In all of this, I hope Bo already knows today whether he will be here next year or not. If he is going to be back next year, I want to see Johnny Stanton on the football field in the next two weeks. I want to see what we have in that young man. Tommy Armstrong has shown in the last two years that he is not the answer at quarterback. In this day and age of college football, you cannot have a guy completing at or below 50% and expect to win games against quality opponents. In our biggest games, the defense has let us down, but the offense hasn't been far behind.

So it is our all American running backs fault our QB can't go through his progressions. Was it rex's fault TMart couldn't do it either? You can interpret it any way you'd like. The fact is that the offense is heavily predicated on the run so when you take a guy like Ameer out of the equation for whatever reason, the QB will struggle, particularly when they are a better runner than passer. That is the case with both Martinez and Armstrong.

Having a guy like Abdullah can be a blessing and a curse. The game plan centers around Ameer and even though Cross and Newby are serviceable, they are not him. You take a guy like him out of the game and Beck is forced to call a different style of game. Like others have said, Armstrong is not good at reading progressions, mostly because having Abdullah in the backfield makes it easier to pick out a single receiver in a pattern with one-on-one coverage. He has not developed into a QB capable of reading through progressions yet and that has to do with what Ameer does to a defense.

My wife is an Ohio native and one of three daughters. She is a Buckeyes fan by nature but really couldn't care less about football. My father-in-law on the other hand, is always trying to persuade my four-year old son to cheer for the Buckeyes. I always tell him if he wanted to have Buckeye fans in his family he should have had boys! I was at the game this past weekend and bought my son a Kenny Bell jersey and he hasn't taken it off since! I'm a little worried that he might switch sides of Ohio State keeps having the run of the league...

After watching all of these ranked teams struggle this week I am more impressed with what Nebraska did against Illinois and Purdue than before. I know these are teams Nebraska SHOULD handle but they went out and did it.

Georgia, South Carolina, and LSU lose to unranked and inferior opponents and it means the SEC has great depth. If these upsets happen in any other conference it means the conference is overrated.

Armstrong is a much better passer and as much as I love Martinez it's not even close. The threat of accurate, downfield passing not only gives our opponents more to prepare for, but it also opens up the running game for Abdullah and company.

Looking back at the article... we finished 90th nationally against the run and only return one starter up front... shouldn't that be a reason for optimism? In my opinion we can only get better on the line.

Even though this is a good move for the BIG on the national level, I think a few of these games between a BIG team and an in-state FCS program will be missed. Northern Iowa-Iowa comes to mind as well as Youngstown State-Ohio State.

No matter how you feel about Notre Dame and the schedule they played, they received a ton of credit for playing a schedule sans FCS opponents. This move will definitely bolster the resume for any team that escapes the BIG season with zero or one loss.

Everyone knows all this - but the statistic still has merit. Why? Because how many other teams have done what we've done? How many? Oh, only three? And they're all perennial BCS and Championship contenders or winners? Well, we aren't, but we're in the same company, which means we are, at the very least, close. That pretty much just means that we have played an easy schedule. The lack of trophies menas that we get exposed when we do play a good team. Esp with the way we have lost the last two years in those games. If we were to play those other three teams, we would prob beat Boise, but Oregon and Alabama would name thier score against us. We would lose to Boise 8 most years (over the past 8). Boise State and NU are polar opposites... Boise plays hard every play, every player regardless of score; NU does not... Boise plays with fantastic focus, great fundamentals, and they play smart; NU does none of these things... Boise wins most halftime adjustments and has excellent game plans; NU does not... Boise gets 100% of the possible performance from their talent; NU does not. Sure, the Huskers have more talent than Boise State (by a sizable amount)... but BSU range year in and year out (last 8 years) somewhere between a slightly better team than NU to a vastly superior football team. I'd say if that if BSU played NU each of the past 8 years or so NU would be about 2-6 or so against them... and if I am really, really generous, perhaps 3-5 or 4-4 against them). So no... NU is quite a bit behind BSU (these past 8 years)... historically, of course, NU is the vastly superior program... but that was then, this is now. The merits of Boise State's success have been debated everywhere but it is so hard to compare what they have done in the WAC to teams from more competitive conferences. Yes, they play with great focus and fundamentals, but this has as much to do with their talent level compared to their inferior opponents week after week. They are able to gear up for TWO games each year. Their first quality opponent comes in the first week of the season giving them the entire offseason to prepare. Their second quality opponent comes in in a bowl game giving them a month to prepare. Give Chris Pedersen credit for getting his guys ready to play and game planning for those opponents, but the grind from week to week in a major conference takes its toll. In my opinion, this makes what Alabama has done that more impressive.

Haven't seen this... Can you link to an article? It was addressed by the commentators making light of their conversations with Bo before the game in regards to depth on the D-Line. They said Bo pointed to the fact that in hindsight he should have handled some of the redshirts differently.

At this point in the season there is no reason for a meltdown because we all know the team's limitations on the defensive side of the football. The reality is that two long plays for Georgia accounted for 170 yards of offense. Green was in position to make a play on the first and the second was simply a perfect play call by Georgia to counter our D. I like the fact that Bo admitted he made a mistake in the way he used RS's. Here's hoping those guys make an impact next year!
