  1. I was in Lincoln this weekend, and even though I had heard about how welcoming Nebraska fans are, I was stunned by how many fans came up and said hello before the game and even more came and shook my hand afterward. The gameday pregame atmosphere was among the best I've ever experienced and the tribute to Nick with the balloons and signs were amazing. Just wanted to say thanks for a great weekend.
  2. Our defense as a whole isn't that young, but our secondary is. They lack experience but are definitely better players than last year's secondary, so this game will be a good challenge for them.
  3. I hope they have, no duck hunters I doubt they show up Friday night, they will probably be in Lincoln no later than 2:00 PM on Friday, they may or may not do a walk around practice and then see a movie or something. Don't be surprised if Mora shows up at Calvin Strong's game on Friday night. This has to be crap. Christ, I got my hotel room back in March. But have you tried getting 100 hotel rooms in the same hotel?
  4. Not exactly. Because the guys we were replacing were just bad in general for the most. It would be like saying we are replacing Lavonte David with Banderas, so we will be better eventually. We're better now. The players we replaced them with are more talented, and raw, YES, but they are already better football players also, scheme wise, IQ wise, ability wise, overall. Off the top of my head, Whaley, Fisher, Stafford, PJ, Meredith all wouldn't be starters this year even if they were still on the team. That's the big difference. We have players coming in that would've replaced them anyway, you guys, that isn't the case, which is obviously a knock on those players and our recruiting, but we hung around with a pretty sh**ty defense last year. Compton is probably the only one that we can make a case for that would still help this defense. Fair points, but I have to ask why did Pelini keep his best players off the field last year if the defense was so bad? We dealt with that kind of thing with Neuheisel but that's sort of why he's fired. I also like to think that the typical freshman-to-sophomore leap for the rest of the offense will compensate for losing Franklin and Fauria, since after all we had 5 freshmen starting on offense that game, and only lost 4 players off the offensive 2-deep.
  5. Can anyone advise me on a place that will be open around 7 AM that serves both breakfast and booze?
  6. James is as much better athlete than Franklin ever was. Franklin wasn't even really an elite back until his senior year when he stopped fumbling and learned to run through arm tackles. Jordon James still needs to learn all those things and be more decisive but he has a much higher ceiling than Franklin. Of course he won't hit it in game 2 but my point is simply that as good as the guys we lost last year were, the guys replacing them are more talented but raw (sound familiar?)
  7. He "only" ran for 50 yards against us. I don't see why everyone is afraid of him running. That is what I was trying to say in the comparison earlier. He won't hurt us too much with his feet. Hell, we almost beat UCLA @ UCLA playing one of our worst games of the year, with a pathetic defense, and them having Franklin and Fauria. As far as whatever The Dude said afterwards, yeah he threw for a lot of yards, but you're kidding yourself if you don't think us being scared shitless of Franklin running the ball didn't contribute to that. He will have to throw to beat us, and I like our matchups a whole helluva lot more this year than I did last year. Unless Devin Fuller became Marqise Lee and Shaq Evans became Paul Richardson, and Fauria somehow sneaks on the field, and Jordon James proves to be significantly better than I thought... Even then... SJB + our current linebackers are 100 times better in coverage than last year. Just don't let Jordon James look like Montee Ball. Hundley isn't that scary. Thats all. Exactly... we lost all of our good players, added nobody that's any good, and all of our other players stayed exactly the same. You guys shouldn't worry about this game, it's in the bag Because that is exactly what I said, right? Jordon James is as good or better than Jonathan Franklin? I don't even know who is replacing Fauria. Owa is out. We actually have scoutable tape on you guys now also. Also all k said in that post was that I like our one on one matcbups a lot more than I did last year. But as far as I'm concerned, this is Nebraska's to lose. Jordon James is definitely more talented than Franklin, but he doesn't have Franklin's vision or tackle-breaking ability, at least not yet. And you're right, we're not really "replacing" Fauria, but as far as I recall his height was only a factor on that bobbled TD pass, he only had about 40 yards or so. I would say Fuller is probably a bigger matchup problem than anyone we had last year. But I'll agree that the one-on-one matchups are probably a little less lopsided than last yearjust based on better athletes for Nebraska. But I still like our chances to score a lot of points based on what I saw of that Wyoming film. We just can't let T-Mart break another 90 yarder.

  9. That remains to be seen. My point was that Nevada is not as bad as many of the creampuffs that the big schools played last weekend. IMHO Nevada would beat both of the teams that Nebraska has played. Wyoming looked pretty feisty to me, they look like they could beat Nevada. The bigger things I take away from the Nevada game were our secondary holding them to 182 yards passing, and the O-line not allowing any sacks. 20 points against the #8 offense in the country last year also looked good.
  10. Hundley is much more of a passer than he is a runner. He's less Tebow/Manziel and more Luck/Russell Wilson in that he prefers to throw but will run when given space. His best attribute is his poise, he doesn't get rattled by pass rush or a bad play, which is how he managed to have the season he had last year despite being sacked 52 times.
  11. I would say D-line depth is not really a concern, we have about 8 good players for the 3 spots. The secondary and O-line depth after the first unit are the bigger concerns for us right now. I feel good about the starting units but injuries could take their toll. Nebraska definitely could win this game, especially at home.
  12. This is exactly what I'd expect him to do if you watch our game film vs Nevada. It was only 17-13 at the half because Fajardo did a really good job of moving the chains and keeping our offense off the field. It wasn't until we got a few stops that the floodgates opened in the second half.
  13. Ummmm..... No. Interesting take that the better team was outgained by 200 yards, outscored by 6, out first downed by 6, and lost TOP by 15 minutes. Just sayin
  14. When was Nebraska ever up 14-3? That game was about as back and forth as it gets.
  15. The same argument being applied by you guys to your LB corps can also be applied to our DBs. Yes we lost all four starters, but we had no pass defense to speak of last year (See the Baylor game). The guys replacing them are far more talented but obviously will have much less experience. We could have a strange situation where Nebraska throws all over us and we run the ball all over Nebraska, due to inexperience at those spots.
