  1. Isn't this like saying. I'm a vegetarian but I really like eating meat for every meal. I really like Riley but I think it's time to Langsdorf to be replaced. I have to ask myself if I would feel the same if we had won even 1 of the last 2 games, and yes. Because the wins we have had before the past 2 losses were not impressive in my opinion. I know it's hard to pin this all on coaching because our O-Line has been injury riddled. I just have not really been a fan of Langsdorf and his play calling. If they aren't an inside zone team that what team are they. Are we a balanced, run, pass? I do get what he's saying though, because they would like to run the ball but haven't been able to, and without saying it I'm assuming it's because of the poor line play.. However the play calling at the end of the Wisconsin game was not due to line, but rather Langsdorf
  2. I think with a full year and off season under Riley and a couple of cake opponents the first 2 weeks, we very well could beat Ore. at home. This isn't the Oregon team of the past, new QB and no Scott Frost. i also don't agree with the NW loss and Wisc. both games were ours for the taking last year.
  3. The big change last year was pulling Davis from starting CB.
  4. They should do something about the seats directly behind the columns on both sidelines..
  5. Ya, I'm still not sold on TA. The reason he looked good in the bowl game was because we didn't put him in a position to have to be the entire offense. We ran the ball the way we should have all year (bad ucla defense or not). TA reminds me of Romo. He has the skills to be really good, but if you put the game in his hands for the entire game (passing 40+ times) then decision making becomes an issue and we lose. If we put the ball into the RB's hands to control the tempo of the game and throw when we need to throw not just because Langsdorf thinks it looks cool on highlight films, then we win. TA at the end almost gave it away, with the play that he rolled BACKWARDS twice on the same play, scrambled out of the pocket and took the sack instead of throwing it away, it was proof his decision making isn't good. I would scream at the tv everytime he did that backward escape route dropping 15 yards deeper to try and avoid the sack.
  6. Let's remember, we are going to have one of the best WR cores in the nation probably next season. Riley's head will be on the chopping block if he doesn't have a QB to utilize that talent, whether it's TA or POB. So the best pure qb, that can make the throws and reads will get the nod. And even though TA has the experience, if dude doesn't improve his decision making, experience or not, he will be sitting pine.
  7. The main point really in this article is TA MUST IMPROVE. We know he has talent, we know he has wheels and an arm. But can someone really improve their reading and seeing the plays and decision making? I'm not saying he can't, but to me those are things that seem to be abilities that I don't know if you can coach. How many guys can throw a football, or run out there? But how many can see a defense, read it and also be able to check down? I would like to see TA improve and finish his senior year being a much improved decision maker, if only to give POB a chance to redshirt, sit under the system for a year, so he can come in the following year and be lights out for us.
  8. If Tommy becomes a better decision maker, with the WR core we have next year. I think NW, WI, and IA are all possible wins. We were close in all 3 of those, and outside of a few bad decisions on both def. and offense we win those this year. But agree, still pretty brutal
  9. I'm so back and forth on the subject of defense. On one side I don't like the defense, our DB's always seem out of position, we can't tackle worth a crap, and we don't have a solid pass rush. Then on the other side, I have to look at it as 1. I think our D line was the most improved group of the entire team 2. We had a ton of injuries to the already very thing LB core 3. Our DB's were pretty inexperienced 4. A new system, a new coach that probably didn't have a lot of buy in from the Def. players that were recruited and loved Bo. With Bo's passing the way it did and left some of those kids feeling short changed I can see why they maybe wouldn't want to play as hard for this team as they could have. I guess we give it another go next year and see if Banker can coach some of these kids up and see who we can recruit.
  10. Targeting isn't necessarily called on intent, but if the crown of the helmet is made and the fact he was a defenseless receiver also helped them make that call. I actually think they got the call right, it sucked to have him tossed but the call was the correct call. And ya they might not have had those 2 TD runs, but if TA doesn't make those really bad decisions and throw the INT's we win walking away.
  11. Here is my assessment of this year and next. Our defense was bad, some can be explained IE. Our LB core was thin to begin with and then injuries depleted them for most of the year. Our DB core improved over the year once Davies was replaced at cb, but they were just straight up horrible. They never looked like they knew what coverage they were supposed to be in and were constantly out of place. Our D line actually I felt was the most improved group on the entire team and ended up being pretty decent I thought. Not that it matters, but I think we need a better DC, Banker doesn't seem to be able to coach up these players and really was never a great system, whatever system it was that he was trying to put in place. Offensively, we struggled to put touchdowns up and ended up with FG's instead. I put most of the blame on Armstrong. He improved a lot from last year, but he constantly made poor decisions (some times they worked), but he consistently threw off his back foot, rolled backwards 15 yards to avoid sacks and just has poor throwing mechanics, but he's the best we had. Our WR core I think is solid and if they all stick around for next year they could be the best core in the nation, IF big IF Armstrong is not throwing them the ball. For the first half of the year, I thought it was play calling (which some of it was), but as the year went on I felt it was due to TA and his lack of ability and poor decision making that put us in positions that we didn't need to be in. I mean I saw so many 3rd and shorts that I thought I was looking at myself in the mirror, and we could never convert any of them. My hope for next year: This 4 star QB we got will end up being a stud and we don't have to see TA again We get a better DC and cut ties with Banker, I just think he's out of his league in the Big 10.
  12. is it just me or am I the only one that hates the jet sweep they run? It seems very predictable (still seeing the last offensive series with byu flashing in my eyes). Cross seemed to really play well once he got touches, he's a load and have felt we haven't utilized him enough this year.
  13. agreed, he was a stud. Is Newby hurt, he doesn't seem to be getting as much play time these past 2 games. Also what happened to Ozigbo? I don't know why they used Newby down in the 1 goal line sequence where eventually TA ran a bootleg to score. Should have been Cross on all of those from inside the 2
  14. It will be interesting to see how many transfers if any happen after this season. It will be a good indicator of how many players are Riley guys.
  15. Bo as a first year coach took a demoralized team and turned them around right away. There were many opportunities to turn that proverbial corner, but never quite pulled it off. So close...but it unfortunately didn't happen. The expectation that we had this year was to avoid blowout losses and have a respectable season. The Purdue loss WAS a blowout as we were down 42-16 at one point. This season so far has gone far worse than any of the doomsday predictions even the most pessimistic fans had. I'm not sold on Frost being a HC yet. I'm not saying Frost for HC yet.. I'm saying bring him in as OC and let Riley groom him for the job for the next 3-4 years. I don't think the staff Riley brought in with him are the best at coaching up talent. And who knows maybe neither is Frost. I'm just saying we give Riley time, but I don't know if we can give his coordinators the same luxury.
