  1. No doubt a 20-25 ranking would be nice, but lets face it, Nebraska is no darling according to most of the national media - which is truly unfortunate. Either way, if we could slide into the top 25 in the preseaon then go out to L.A. and knock the Trojans off their horse, then enjoy some grilled Longhorn later in the year, we would deserve a high ranking. Can't wait to see the Gators enjoying fried Hawkeye come Monday. Yes it would be nice to see NU/Iowa play every year but I believe as a Nebraska native and from sources I have in Iowa City, it's highly unlikely that will ever happen on a regular basis - too many legistics - i.e. Nebraska needs the home games; and already tough conference schedules for both teams. Either way nice to see the Big Red knock off Michigan. One more step on the road to ! GO BIG RED!!!
  2. Sure ole Stevey Pete might come off a bit smug, and slimy at times, but lets applaud him for something most people lack - VISION for both the entire athletic department and especially the football team. He could see where football with that drunken moron was heading - a place formerfan, bernard or anyone would ever dream it should be, and that's not in a good way either - and don't think for a second that if he'd been back here a year beforehand frank never under any circumstances would have survived the 7-7 embarrasment. I was ready for frank to go them and even more ready to see him leave after that kansas state disaster at the stadium, 8-3 record regardless. steve saw the football facilities were becoming second rate - wise move to make the massive upgrades to nebraska's cash cow. he has created the pavillion, enhanced the coliseum and found ways to make the other venues something special. he's done many good things for the school and the fans. lets let steve do his tough job and find ways to back Husker Nation whether or not we aggree with steve or not. GO BIG RED!!!
  3. Way to go Husker volleyball!!! Mega cheers from a native nebraskan transplanted in iowa. even as i'll be in carver hawkeye saturday (prearranged trip long ago with a couple of buddies i'm witnessing too that husker nation is much better) i plan to represent husker nation with the pride!!! Good luck to what sounds like an incredible group of young ladies!!! You make it very easy to say GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!! Now lets spike and block the tar out of puppies from seattle and bring the hardware back to its rightful place at the Coliseum.
  4. As someone who knows what its like to live and work around both Husker fan and chuckeye wannabe fan, its a no brainer HUSKER FAN ALL THE WAY. Iowa fans sure talk a good talk....they do NOT walk a very good walk. For example, I had to attend an I-Club event this past summer for work. Worst three plus hours of my life (that includes the 5-6 debacle and the 93 orange bowl officials screwjob). They're extremely cheap about giving financially. I saw stuff going at the action/silent action that would have gone for at least two to five times higher in Nebraska. They bragged the whole time about how great fans they are, yadda, yadda, yadda. I couldn't get drunk fast enough or find a trash can to puke it. They're bandwagonish at best. I remember hawk fans this season bragging how they'd sold out kinnick somethin like 20 times in a row this year and were going to be sold out season ticket basis for the first time ever...Unhuh, yeah, not the least bit impressed chuckeye fan. when you sell out kinnick against all the ball state's, uni's and northwestern's for 40 years in a row you can flap your trap. until then - SHUT UP! You are not the best fans in the region, country and hell even in your own state! Sure they travel well, but so do the Skers. Besides, usually by mid december 3/4 of iowa and nebraska folk are ready for someplace to defrost. The Chuckeyes at best a single a level, maybe double a compared with those who are chozen members of husker nation. Their potential basketball civil war involving alford's status as coach will be as messy if not more so than the solich war. Remember Husker faithful, we are the BEST fans no ifs, ands or buts about it. Our gameday experiences blow just about everyone else's out of the water, especially the chuckeyes. Our stadium kicks Kinnick's, specially with the new north stadium jumbotron going in. our new football facilities will blow iowa's completely out of the water, besides the fact that all our facilities kick the holy crap out of iowa's to begin with. shoot, even the devaney center with its recent upgrades kicks the snot out of carver-chuckeye. ok, sorry about the rant, just an old husker stuck in hawkeye hell venting. can't wait til saturday when i walk into carver-chuckeye to watch a bad arizona state men's basketball team pound the chuckeyes while i'll be proudly wearing my cornhusker red in support of our volleyball team doing something iowa hasn't done in any sport recently - win a national championship!!! Eat that chuckeyes. GO BIG RED!!!
  5. husker tag - i couldn't agree with you more . Should the Skers win, which imo they'll pull one out in the fourth quarter, maybe all the naysayers will finally quit beating on deadhorse issues - i.e. callahan and company can't coach (allegedly) and the fire steve pederson nonsense - and realize that this team is moving in a forward direction. The Huskers are a sleeping giant that's starting to rumble again. Oklahoma went through a time like this in the not so distant past, same with penn state. look where they're at. with the leadership of coach callahan and the staff we'll be right there where nebraska belongs!!! GO BIG RED!!!
  6. That sCUm fan is off his/her rocker. Couldn't agree more that sCUm fans are about as low as they come. yah I don't remember anyone cryin about the 70spot Tech threw on us last year. Yet heaven forbid that if we ever put up 70 whether it be now or in the past, the whole country's calling us a bunch of jerks? Memo to CU fans - your sCUm defense could do nothing to stop them that day. I can guarantee you Mack Brown was not deliberately trying to run the score up on you guys. Learn how to play a little defense and that might help. GO BIG RED!!!
  7. Oh I forgot to add this formerfan - the reason Nebraska went from top dawg to midlevel team was not because of Bill Callahan. It was because of Frank the Tank Solich! Let me remind you of the mere fact that once Osborne's well of recruits dried up in late 2001, the program proceeded to take a dive in the wrong direction. 7-7 says enough about that. The 10-3 season was a flat out mirage. Teams on the schedule were down that year (CU went 5-6 among others) or we played them without some of their best players at the time. It used to be that when we played teams like KState and Iowa State that we'd have players they wanted at almost every starting position. By the end of the tank's era the roles were reversed - which for some like your self is acceptable. for those of us that support the team like true fans that situation was completely unacceptable. that and the fact that when the darth vaders from iowa city started raiding our best out of omaha, allowing solich to continue as coach was not looking good. Lest I have to remind you that going into the K-State game that year that out of the 24 possible starters (we're counting the punter and kicker here too), Nebraska had maybe one player that K-State would have wanted --- and the was the punter, a complete role reversal from just a few years before. That alone should have had him fired. Then getting blown out in Lincoln by those turkeys was the final straw in the solich era. He had five years to prove that he could recruit and he failed miserably! i happen to believe that if pederson had been hired in december 01 instead of december 02 frank would have never survived the 7-7 debacle. lets put it this way, blaming callahan and steve for the "alleged" problems accomplishes nothing. yes the 5-6 year stunk, but this year we've showed signs at times of progress. remember, we're missing our most reliable receiver from a couple years ago. recruiting is back on track to where it needs to be. enough of the griping! lets support the team and put our differences aside lest we become mizzou north. GO BIG RED!!!
  8. Hey former fan - and all you other so called cornhusker fans that like to bash the current regime - Nebraska will take the Big 12 North by storm next year. We get three vital playmakers - herian, octavian and bradley - back to full health. Taylor and the crew will have another year of experience under their belts. If Callahan, John Blake and the rest of the coaches have a recruiting class close to last year's, we'll lets just say we'll be in the process of restoring the order. Iowa State's window of opportunity has passed them by, let alone they blew their best chance this year by losing at home to baylor community junior high and to kansas. Oh by the way bud, if mccarney and the crew are such better coaches then callahan and the boys, explain to me how the hell they can beat the crapeyes (Iowa) then gag away games to baylor and ku? i think they're both right about in the same boat. both had outstanding wins (nu vs cu, isu vs darth vader and co.) heartbreaking losses (nu v tech, isu to the skers) and bad losses (nu v mizzou, ku, isu to baylor and ku). for the future years, cu's going to be in shambles for a couple years yet. kstate's heading back to mediocrity, isu doesn't have the resources to compete with nebraska, ku is still a basketball school and who knows what's going to happen with mizzou over the next few years. their's room on the wagon for next year for you guy so called fans. hope it doesn't fill up before you realize this program's heading back to the top and the wagons already full. GO BIG RED!!!
  9. Nice logic smakerony. Lets see if that receiver from Wazzou quits dancing around in the middle of the field and gets hits butt on the ground, wazzou would have had one play left. the way michigan was playing pass defense that drives leads me to believe ole charlie woodson would have been torched by leaf on the final play and we wouldn't be having this argument. michigan fan you should enjoy it, cuz you aren't going to have one for a long time with lloyd carr as your head coach. outside of this year, ferentz has proved he's a better coach. tressel has carr's number so stupid its not funny. even randy walker's a better coach than carr, considering he gets more for less unlike carr who gets less with more. Either way the Huskers will roll to a big bowl win and start the process of restoring the order! GO BIG RED!!!
  10. With another solid recruiting class this winter, improvement in the spring and fall along with a year of experience, the Big Red will rise up to their rightful place a top the Big 12 North and truly restore the order. I'm already looking forward to going down to Ames and watching the Huskers spank the clones and help reclaim the dominance of years past! And lets remember that our best receiving threat - Herian - returns next fall to catch Taylor's passes. GO BIG RED!!!
  11. hey former fan, ??? dude did you just happen to miss the end of solich's tenure??? did you just happen to notice the top level recruits across the country and even in our own back yard saw the light that solich stunk? The fact that freaking Hawkeyes were making recruiting inroads in Omaha tells you how bad it was getting. Callahan is bringing in the talent we need to win again. And quit beating a dead horse while your at it. GO BIG RED!!!
  12. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? 24 1/2 years 2) What/who led you to The Nation? Grew up in Nebraska and in football crazy town...Never had a chance to become something else thank goodness!!! 3) Where are you from originally? Stromsburg, Nebraska...home of the Vikings, now Cross County Cougars 4) Where do you live now? The hell that is Iowa - okoboji to be specific 5) Favorite Husker memory? 94 national championship game when we finally buried the ghosts of the orange bowl once and for all. 6) Worst Husker memory? The day brook berringer died; Last year cuz all my so called Hawkeye “friends” would not shut up after the Texas Tech massacre. 7) Number of home games attended? unfortunately just 2 8) Number of away games attended? 2---sad that i’ve been to as many away games as home games 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? signed tom osborne nu mini helmet from 97 autograph day, before we knew it was the last year for the good doctor. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) any place where members of the chozen people are gathered to cheer the huskers on to a win 11) Favorite all time player? tough call cuz there’s been so many over the years... loved broderick sandman thomas as a kid, but probably in the end its touchdown tommie frazier 12) WCO or Option? loved the option; warming to the wco as long as it produces results 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Steve P no doubt about it for having the courage to can solich during the 10-3 mirage of a season and making a very respectable hire in Callahan. Old Dollar Bill flat out priced the common fan out of the stadium. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Herbie all the way. lil red is the most abominable thing on the planet...next to herky hawkeye that is. 15) Favorite Husker play? option pass. when properly executed the play worked wonders. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? brewskis to wash down freshly grilled burgers and brats.
