  1. I'm wondering where Marvin Sanders is going to land after all of this? Nix Elmo add Sanders? Anyone...Anyone...
  2. I'm glad to see a good non-trashtalking message from an opponent's fan. Good substance, but I agree with DJR313, there are a lot of ifs and the biggest difference between this year and last is our O-Line. Your blitzing success last year was predicated on the truth that we were heavily reliant on the passing game. We now have the ability to run and pass which should make it much tougher for you guys to blitz effectively without giving up some big plays. Your secondary will have trouble, not as much with our WR's as with our TE's (another improvement over last year). Have fun in Lincoln.
  3. I'm a Denver Broncos fan so I remember it well. Oakland goes to Denver on Monday night the year Cally took the Raiders to the Superbowl and if you know anything about that match-up you know its a rivalry and it is always a good game. Callihan's game plan that night was paralyzing to Denver and they had a good D that year. Granted he was working with two HOF WR's and a heady QB, but I just remember it being totally frustraiting not being able to keep Oakland from getting first downs because they executed so well and were so balanced, Denver's D felt the frustration too and it translated over into pressure on the offense and then it buckled. They chewed up the clock like they were a running team because they completed nearly every pass and it was all dink and dunk and when you got a good rush that is when the RB's ran all over the place. Getting to my point (and I do have one) this is what I expect us to do, in some degree, to USC on Saturday. Go into a hostile envrionment, take the crowd out and keep the offense on the field for massive amounts of time forcing the opponent out of their game plan. That nightmare memory of a game (as a Broncos fan) is what has been fueling my optimism about this game with SC.
  4. I didn't attend this game, but I can attest to it as I am friends with a former Husker who played in the game and he said that it was the loudest game he ever heard home or away.
  5. I believe you'll get your chance to hear Kugler during the Texas game as Westwood One will be broadcasting that game nationally. After that the feathers will really fly. I can't stand Rose and his baseball call is worse than football. "And the blackshirts have got him at the 35, 36, 37,38 and he rolls forward to the 42 yard line."
  6. He is hesitant, but trust me he’s not slow. Most of you remember him looking so fast as he streaked past a safety (who was biting on the play action) in the Solich offense. Well he’s not running one man play action routes anymore and he’s still getting open and just like always he catches the ball like he’s got it on a string. OK, I noticed that he’s hesitant in the open field as to getting tackled below the belt, but that is just a confidence issue. Anybody remember our TE’s getting 20 yards after catching the ball at all last year. Anybody remember a TE catching 3 balls for 60 yards and a Touch’ in any game all last year? Bottom line is that Matt Herian, in whatever shape he is in, is an upgrade to our offense.
  7. I feel for this person, he has an all too common psychological disorder that affects many college football fans. This disorder is usually passed down from generation to generation and while it rarely appears in childhood it erupts in adolescence and peaks at mid-life. It begins with a slight sting and a loss of pride and with each year it grows and grows changing from depression to hate along the way and finally it ends with an unyielding desire to become what you despise. Since this desire is impossible to attain, the mind builds a fairy-tale world where the subject actually then gains a false sense of elitism. It is called Husker Envy Disorder and various attempts of treatment are being used: The University of Colorado is on the forefront of the Medicinal Marijuana treatment, while Methamphetamine treatments are being experimented with widely in both Kansas and Missouri. There are a few examples of success with both, but it is clinically believed that these attempts only perpetuate the problem. There is a way that we can help. We need to reach out to these people and let them know that it’s OK to be a fan of a lesser institution. Help them to understand that just because were the best doesn’t mean that they can’t be the second best. It is OK to be a #2, in fact I took a #2 this morning and it felt great.
  8. I'm tired of people siting Mat Linert as a sophmore who stepped in and won and then saying Booty can do the same. Yes, Linert stepped in and won, with Mike Williams (NFL), Reggie Bush (NFL), Dwaine Jarrett and Lindale White (NFL) all surrounding him. Eventhough Linert was inexperienced, he had an experienced cast of weapons around him, now three of those four weapons are gone. They won't have the same offensive firepower that they had last year or the year before. Oh, they'll be good, but not like last year. 42 points, last year at this time hell yes, this year no way...more like 28. Sorry just needed to get that out.
  9. I listened to this program too and it puzzled me until I was listening to 590 again last night and the same guy (Matt Seigel) explained that he attended...DUN. DUN DUN The University of Southern California So in the end, he's just another homer. The guy that normally hosts that show (Matt Perault) is pretty unbiased, I'd like to hear what he might say about the 42 point prediction.
  10. Sounds like Woody Page. He's biased as hell. We're not the same team as last year: We lost very little and gained experience with who is still around as well as adding some impact players like Mo, Dre,Kenny and Carl Nicks and we have some unknowns that I actually feel good about in our O-Line and TE's. Funny how two teams that were favored to beat us by 2 TD's last season ended up being one that quit and another that really wasn't that good afterall. Go back and read this guy's columns before the sCUm thrashing and you'll see that he saw no signs of them quitting then. WE KICKED THEIR A$$ and were going to do it again this year!
  11. I've got one ticket to the game, just need another so my friend and I can go together. Thanks.
  12. Wilson is a huge talent and has been breaking big runs in practice, he even got a run that went in Jordan's vault of great plays, but I think they are going to have to work up situational packages for him atleast for a little while until he has a full grasp of the playbook. Callahan likes to utilize multiple backs and that goes back to his Raider days. I think you'll see 2 or 3 of these guys alot with one being a situational player. I think all 4 will be on the field at some point during every game barring injury. Don't rule out the possibility of a 2 back set that shifts one or both backs into a receiver position either. The possibilties are numerous and confusing with this much talent and that is exactly what we want our opponents to think/feel. GBR!
  13. Welcome even though I've only been here a short time myself. The game is nationally telivised so unless you have some regional games at the same time you guys should be able to view it.
