  1. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? When I became a Cornhusker fan, nobody would have known what you were talking about if you said "Husker Nation" to them. As a grade school girl, Bobby Reynolds was my ultimate hero figure. The games were always on the radio at home and, if you were shopping in downtown Lincoln, you would be hearing the game piped over speakers at Miller & Paine and Gold's Department Stores. The "N" club and Pep Club members were out on the corners of "O" Street downtown during the morning of a home game selling red and white carnations with the opposite color pipe stem cleaners in the shape of "N"s wired into them. A trip into the men's department at Gold's would get you a free red feather (about 9" - 12" in length) with a white "N" sticker at the top of it. So I have been a Nebraska Cornhusker fan for 54 - 55 years. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? Born in Lincoln,Nebraska 3) Where are you from originally? Lincoln, Nebraska 4) Where do you live now? Alexandria, VA 5) Favorite Husker memory? A tie between attending the 1971 Orange Bowl when Nebraska won their first national championship and the 1994 Orange Bowl game when they beat Miami. 6) Worst Husker memory? A tie between the 1993 Orange Bowl loss and the firing of Frank Solich who, as Tom Osborne stated often, had been left with a pretty empty cabinet as far as talented and/or experienced players. He had received NO support from the AD as far as upgrading facilities to help in recruiting and even after bringing in some new assistant coaches (many that had ties with Nebraska) and having a nine win season, he still got stabbed in the back by Steve Pederson who then announced the plans for all the new addition to help the current coaching staff with recruiting. 7) Number of home games attended? I am having to guess here but a few in the knothole section as a child and then approximately 7 since the 80's. 8) Number of away games attended? Approximately 8 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? Red sweatshirt with the real "Herbie" on it. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) When I was living in Kansas, it was in front of my own TV where I could cheer, cry, yell, whatever, without worrying about what someone else would think. Now, it will mainly be listening to them on the internet and then watching the coach's show on the internet to see the highlights of the game. 11) Favorite all time player? Ooh, a difficult answer here. Bobby Reynolds (can't get over my first hero crush), Marc Munford (I dated his dad in high school) and Brook Berringer because he was just a great exampe of a real team player and an outstanding young man. 12) WCO or Option? Option 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Pick your poison - I would have to say Billy Byrne because he has the excuse that he wasn't brought up in the Nebraska tradition. Steve Pederson is a complete backstabbing rat. Frank Solich really didn't have a fair chance...he didn't have a lot left when Coach Tom left (Osborne stated as much) and there had been nothing done with the football team's facilities to help in recruiting. If Solich and his assistants had had the new facilities to use in recruiting, I think we would have continued improving on his last season which was, after all, a nine win season. I am glad that the internet wasn't around when Tom Osborne first took over as head coach...he would not have been the coach by the 1980's and we would have missed out on a great run as a top football program. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Herbie Husker...but the original blond Herbie with the corncob in the overalls or dressed in the football jersey, not this dark haired, red shirted character that looks like he is a reject that bounced off the Oklahoma Sooner's wagon. 15) Favorite Husker play? Fumbleruskie and/or pass to quarterback Eric Crouch 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Ice water, some red wine or a margarita 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) Stumbled across it - I'm old. I was born before computer chips were being installed in brains. I still don't understand exactly how message boards operate and you probably won't hear from me again but it did give me a place to vent some of my continuing frustration over Steve Pederson.
