  1. Beaten in so many phases tonight. Clearly outplayed and outcoached tonight. I don't know if losing to UCLA can be considered an embarrasing loss, but watching the way Nebraska play was embarrasing at times tonight.
  2. I miss the days when college football teams actually wore uniforms with their school colors. I'm sick of seeing every team adding black into their scheme when it's not part of their original color scheme. I'm glad this is for just one game because the uniform flat out sucks and I'll be glad when black goes back to being in name-only for the defense.
  3. None. We shouldn't manufacture rivalries for the sake of just having a rivalry. Rivalries need to be earned.
  4. My vote is to stay with the Big 12. I think Nebraska will regret a decision to go to the Big 10 in just a few short years. For one, recruiting which has already been discussed. The second, I feel you will see a drop off of fans traveling to away games due to distance and lack of interest in the Rust Belt. As it is now, people can drive to and from Ames, Columbia, Manhattan and Lawrence in a day's time. Colorado gives Nebraskans to see the mountain which no other plains state has. Trips to Oklahoma are not horrible. Trips to Texas at least has many venues to see other than the game itself. There is nothing in the Rust Belt. I'm a native Hoosier and the only real decent stopping point is the College Football Hall of Fame in a town that isn't even in the 'new' conference. Only Iowa City is close enough to travel to and from on a game day. Everything else requires lodging or a drive-all-night situation to return home. Fans cannot continue to support the Huskers on the road as they do now. In fact, I'm willing to bet on it. Secondly, the 'new' conference games make decent home-and-home games, but not conference games. I want to play Michigan every year as I do Boise State. Sure, it's great right now, but the match-up will lose it's luster after a while. Nebraska and Michigan (or any current Big 10 school) simply do not have enough in common to justify the term 'rivalry' in the same sense as some of the current Big 12 schools. We just have nothing in common with many of those states. I just can't justify a move like this.
  5. Horrible idea. Frazier wasn't liked at Doane by many, including his players. That right there is not a good sign. Plus, he was a totally different type of QB and he's not suited for this type of offense.
  6. Well, keep in mind that loyalty may be a relative term. It's obvious that Gill is looking for something else otherwise he wouldn't have interviewed for those other schools in the first place. Now exactly what Gill may be searching for or desires is hard to tell. Heck, even Gill himself may not even know yet. I agree Auburn is a deathtrap right now and ISU will be really hard to keep a team in contention for a North title year in and year out. At the end of the day, I wouldn't be shocked to see Gill stay at Buffalo and try to make the program 'his' like Osborne did with Nebraska. Will Buffalo ever be in a position to win a national championship? Doubtful, but I'm not sure that is Gill's underlying motive to remain there currently.
  7. This has a certain family appeal for me. My wife and stepson are Okies. I'm hoping this season to finally shut them up.
  8. Actually, it is the same rule. I'm not going to whine about it not being called. But I had to look this up as well.
  9. Maybe it's because Pelini has been successful everywhere he has been, including here.
  10. Everyone already knows this but, Callahan was at Oakland for a total of two years. Yes, he took them to a Super Bowl in his first year but he then turned around and led them to a 4-12 season the next while losing the respect of his players en route to being fired. That's a total of two years as head coach at any level. Of those two years, one was a success and the other a huge failure. That's not much of a resume to be honest.
  11. Yeah, until the o-line grows a pair and act like men out there, it could be Rozier, Phillips, Green...it doesn't matter. To the point however, I like the fact we are using three backs. Each stay fresh coming off the bench, but Lucky is our best receiving back by far. In this offense, I think if you were forced to pick one it would have to be Lucky.
  12. Agree. Solich is as true of a Husker as one could get. Played here, coached in the state, coached on the sidelines for all those years without leaving, then taking over when Tom decided the time was right. He bled Husker red and he should be honored for that.
  13. Yeah, it would suck to lose to Mizzou at home but I can't find fault with Bo if he is the one that the streak ended on. It's like Callahan left a poker game mid-hand with his opponent holding three aces to his one King. Bo and his team will need to pull three more kings out (play a perfect game) to beat a very good Missouri offense. Honestly, no shame if it happens this year.
  14. Watson is doing fine so far. The problem is just the lack of overall talent and too many youngsters on the offensive side. Watson is doing what he can with what we have available, and we're not doing too bad in the throwing department. It's the offensive line that worries me most. No running game, Ganz being pushed out of the pocket against VA Tech which made some of his throws off need to be a priority to get up to speed. We have some talent on the line, but Cotton has a lot of work to do to get these guys up to par. I'm just not sure the coaching staff has had the time to do all that was needed to repair this team.
  15. I don't think we can fault the refs for throwing the flag on Suh. Granted, I really don't feel that Suh's hit was intentional, but he did land on the player laying out of bounds. That's going to get a flag almost every time, and justifiably so. But I echo a lot of people here that say Bo made a bad situation worse. I really feel we could have forced a field goal attempted and had a chance to tie. As it was, the additional 15 yards by Bo allowed VT to score the deciding touchdown. It sucks, but Bo has to learn he is the head coach of a DI program and he can't shoot from the hip. He has to be smarter about when and where to press the officials. It's a loss, but it is also a learning experience for him (again..ie Alamo Bowl). I still think he is capable of taking us where we want to be, but he has to smarter in the future.
