  1. As long as Florida isn't an option, we are getting Jim McElwain! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_McElwain Saban disciple with HC experiencing
  2. Just to be clear... Just because I am not happy with the current progress, or lack thereof, doesn't necessarily mean I want a major change or Bo's head on a platter. I just want people, Bo included, to realize and question how we are doing everything. Why do the turnovers continue to plague us, why can't we be halfway decent on ST, why do tight games turn into blowout losses more times than not, why are we 5th-7th in B1G recruiting year in, year out, why do we have one of the least experienced staffs in America, what is our identity??? I want little things that are holding us back to be changed. We aren't terribly far from relevant, we proved that against Texas, Oklahoma, etc...BUT things need to be explored and changed, processes examined, challenged and changed!
  3. The people inside the program are striving for better, but I'm not sure most on the outside aren't content with where we are. I still can't believe people are thinking anything has changed. We just went 8-4 with 3 blowout losses AT HOME and also lost to Minnesota.....everyone feels so great that we beat an average Georgia team (myself included) but you can't stand up and argue that there is any sign things are looking up!
  4. Knapp, No need to get so butt hurt. I'm not going to root for anyone but the Huskers, whether we win 3 or 13 . I never said 9 wins a year is meaningless, but I would like to think our program should strive for better results. Calling that "childish entitlement crap" is laughable. I also never threw an "anti-nine win bitchfest". My argument here starts and ends with the National Title and 2 SEC Championships.
  5. Mr. Accountability, I don't think you'll find an argument from anyone here that we don't want to be Auburn. The question was about trading the end result and this hypothetical is only about one thing: RESULTS. I can't fathom a world, in which we as Huskers fans, wouldn't take a title, a runner-up, two mediocre years and two duds over 10-4/9-5 every year with NO signature wins and blowout losses?
  6. I'm an idiot, meant to say played for two....either way, they have a ring, we don't...I don't see how everyone wouldn't make the trade
  7. No frickin thanks?!?!?!? I don't know how 100% of Huskers fans wouldn't trade our last 6 years for Auburn's TWO National Titles! He didn't say anything about "how" just results! We haven't even won two conference titles...
  8. If we had the 2009 D, I would lean that way, but we need game-changers to help flip the field and take some pressure off the O! We seem to always have horrendous starting field position...wish I could find stats to back it up...
  9. I am probably one of the biggest fans of Abdullah out there and love his game-changing ability, but with Rex's knee and lack of experience behind Ameer, can we please stop putting him back as a returner! Let's get one of our talented WRs back there and let them get an extra 3-5 touches per week. What do you guys think???
  10. I honestly don't think we will play for another MNC in the current format (BCS) and I am still a die hard...holding on to hope of a magical run!!!
  11. Well thats a nice way to address the majority of the people on here who are concerned with the direction of the program. Also, it seems to me that the vast majority of that majority are still very much behind Bo. Thinking they work twice as hard as other staff is just plain naive or delusional, or the ultimate in the rose colored glasses theory. He might be a great coach someday, but if you think he's a great coach RIGHT NOW, then you are the one who needs to pull something out of something. There is an abundance of work to be done. If he's a great coach now, he should be able to win with the talentless group of players he is forced to work with. Yes, our expectations are high, we don't have another major college team or a pro team to pull for so our emotional investment is high, just like it's been for the last 30 or 40 years (or longer, don't remember past then). Those expecations are always going to be high, but most are satisified or placated if our team and coach at least put up a reasonable, competetive effort on the field, and do with a modicum of class. I'll be the first to admit, persoanlly, I don't think he's every going to develope into the type of coach we are looking for, but I also realize it takes time to build a program, but anyone who knows anything about the game knows that this program has boatloads of work ahead of it and if he does get it turned around, I'll be the first to step up admit I was wrong. And I can think of at least 3 million reasons why a coach "worth a chit" might come here. Ya ur right its mostly addressed to the few on here that are anti Bo reguradless of what he does. And yes i do think him and his staff spend alot more time on the road then most. Texas, Florida ,Ohio State, barely have to leave thier back yard. We are constantly in New Jersey (this year) Texas, California, Florida. We dont have the convience of driving a few hours to visit prospects. Our coaches are all over the country, and i wish people would realize that when they are arent coaching games they are immediately out recruting. After the Iowa game Bo was gone the whole next week recruiting, then back to watch game film of USC and coaching practice, jump to Florida for a visit, back to practice, up to new jersey. Sure he gets paid good, but he could get paid just as good somewhere else and it would require alot less effort recruiting if he were at say...Florida. He is busting is ass recruting, just because its guys dont pick us in the end doesnt mean they arent trying, its just damn hard to pull guys away from home to come to the middle of no where. Yes our guys have to travel farther, but it doens't require any less effort to recruit in the talent "hotbeds", those coaches still have to work their asses off to land players. All the coaches are out recruiting after their last regular game. To think that our staff is working harder than anyone elses just doens't make sense. Is it difficult to land premier players to come here to Nebraska, absolutely, I don't think anyone would ever argue that. It just means that you have to really develope those players that you do get. And quite frankly, right now, talent isn't the biggest issue we need to address. I think if you read through a lot of the posts most agree that we have enough talent to compete with most teams on the college scene. Lets face it, we were the much better team in the first half of the bowl game before we fell apart. Yes, you have to have good talent, but you also have to develope that talent so that it produces on the field. I think right now that developement along with in game management skill are what are being questioned about Bo. I agree with most of the post about fighting an uphill battle in recruiting BUT my main problem with MOST the Pelini apologists are as follows: - Since Billy C left, where are all of the All-Conference or better performers that Bo and staff have brought in and developed? - Why are you ignoring the fact we keep getting headboarded by superior teams and aren't even competitive for 4 quarters in most big games? - What has Bo done to prove he has grown as a HC? (I actually prefer the "Blow your Load Bo" version over this "fake Bo" that most have required him...we knew we were getting a hot head when we hired him) I have plenty more points but would like at least some clarity on those before heading into others....
  12. AGREED! I like the idea of having a "partnership" but why not do it with the big dogs in the SEC... I think the B1G/PAC-12 arrangement is fatally flawed! If no one is watching PAC-12 football now, why would we want to boost their ratings.......... OH YEAH......FOX SPORTS!!! This is so easy to see through it is laughable!!! FOX has dictated to us and the PAC-12 that they want us to have "national" appeal and pull viewers away from the SEC driven ESPN machine! We have now joined the arms race against ESPN/SEC and we're light years behind!!!
  13. I was under the impression he drove a Chrysler 300...
  14. I would have to give the 10 and take Wisconsin...I just don't think we keep it within 2 scores the way Martinez handles the option, pressure and ball handling...PLUS our D is not up to our normal standards. Youth and new system (more base 4-3) have combined for some colossal missed assignments. With that said, the Husker die hard in me would definitely love to find some ML action to hedge my bet!!!! I'm hoping Martinez can right his ship and grow as QB in a very hostile environment in primetime!!! GO BIG RED!!! 38-24 Wisconsin
  15. I thought the kick was good...BUT that's because I thought you automatically got the benefit of the doubt when you kick a 50 yarder OVER the uprights!!! I think the ball clearly was not ALL inside the upright, therefore the call was right....TECHNICALLY! But I think football needs to look at adding a few unwritten rules, like in baseball.... "Unwritten" Rule #1: If you kick a ball OVER the upright and it isn't clearly wide, it is GOOD! Call this the Maher Effect!
