  1. Huskers! Its a new year, a new beginning, and the same old Big Red enthusiasm. I had forgotten my password for several months now, and have not been able to respond to your blogs and put my two cents worth in. So if I say something that you've discussed over and over please forgive me. I haven't seen Foppa on the board lately. I liked him. What happened? My analysis of this year's Nebraska football team: (Keep in mind I only saw one complete game last year, the USC game) Marlon Lucky is a talent. Last year he seemed in a funk and not comfortable. But this guy has the goods. I hope for him and the team his senior year is a great one. Zach Potter really impressed me last year. Tremendous pursuit. He was going against a three time All-American, Sam Baker, and he did well I thought. On at least one occasion I saw Sam frustrated that Zac used his quickness to get away from a block. Armando Marillo appeared to be your best cover safety. He covered our guys well. Little did he know our wide outs couldn't catch the ball however! Slauson (Sp?) is a fine offensive lineman. His maturity should make him one of the Big 12's top OLmen. Swift is an excellent receiver. He performed much better than our receivers. Want to trade? Dixon. I personally think your are better off without him. He reminded me of a typical Big 10 lineman: big and strong but no quickness and poor footwork. Linebackers: the good news is last years starters are gone. There were two subs in last year's game who did well I thought, but I can't remember their names. Sorry. Coach: You have a good one, maybe a great one, time will tell. Speaking of time, give this team some time. Don't expect a lot out of them for the first half of the year. But by the second half of the year I think you will be please with the way they play, not necessarily their record. I just came back from LA this AM and spent the last two weeks at SC's practices. I am pumped for the season to start. Remember, I am pulling for you guys. Go Big Red. Tarheel Trajan Fight On! PS I see you are playing Western Michigan. I didn't know that was a team? I thought it was the left side of the Big House! You will kill those bleachers!
  2. What about "Boom" from P.O.D.'s 2001 release "Satellite" CD. You could change the lyrics from "Here comes the boys from the south" to "Here comes the boys from the corn"!
  3. It has to be both if you want to compete on the highest level. That's what you're going to see. I would be interested in seeing your new strength coach's drills. Fortunately this is the one thing you can work on immediately without waiting for spring and little NCAA restrictions. You can get a lot of "voluntary" work in by the players.
  4. Hey, this slipped past me with Christmas and all, but you two are great. Happy B-Day!
  5. Happy Birthday my friend. You are one of my favorites.
  6. Henry Ford once said, "You can paint my cars any color you want as long as it is black" With that in mind, from my "outsider" point of view, your uniforms can be any color you want as long as they are white.
  7. Reading this article you can see how Bo can relate to the Nebraska tradition. Its basically what he has known all his life, just transferring the same values he learned from the steel valley to the great plains.
  8. For all you who serve, risk your lives, go through hard times, cold, hunger, fear, loneliness, heat, being dirty, eating what you can scrounge, THANKS! I spent two Thanksgivings, one Christmas, and 15 months away from my family and friends in my tour of duty, I know what you are going through. Welcome into family of those who served. We have a comradeship that few can share. I hope you return to those who love you, and appreciate them more than ever before. I hope you have a great football season to come home to. I salute YOU. Keep up the fire!
  9. I hope you get more than you wish for. I hope for all you Huskers that you have a great turn around season, and is part of storybook season like Appalachian had this season.
  10. Its been great knowing you guys/gals this year. Too bad it had to be so tough. Thanks for welcoming me even though we didn't see eye to eye all the time. At least you have a new start for next year with BO, so celebrate the the true meaning of Christmas with your friends and especially your family. GBR/Fight On!
  11. I made a post on another thread that was sent to "rumorville" where I mentioned Pete Carroll mentored Bo earlier in his career. One of Pete's mentor's was then NC State coach Monte Kiffen, thus his son's,Lane Kiffen, connection to SC as OC until this year when he went to Oakland as head coach. App State's coach, Jerry Moore, was mentored by Dr. Tom. There are a lot of coaches out there who learned or were influenced by another coach that most of us are just unaware of.
  12. I think your offensive back field is clearly the strength of this team next year, with or without Lucky. I think you will have an outstanding backfield either way. O-Line looks solid, and really had some success this year. The D-line was your big question mark going into last year, and unfortunately the answer wasn't very good. The entire defense will need a major overhaul. Those guys will have to quickly get over being shell shocked this season. Good luck next year.
