  1. Agreed. He's not on par with someone like Frost yet, but Frost had some highlight material that's still fun to watch. That big white boy just destroyed a few folks in his career.
  2. Imani isn't good. He needs a clean run for 3-4 yards to make a nice gain. I think he is good however...I just think he lacks the vision and shiftiness that our other tailbacks have. Just a guess Is he really a good RB if he lacks vision and shiftiness? Those are 2 pretty big attributes of a good RB. Not if he is strictly a down hill runner. A bruiser back so to speak You're not wrong, but it just seems he's built more for a Fullback position than a straight RB. I love the guy, if his nickname isn't Juggernaut then I don't know why not. Once he's up to speed it usually takes a good three or more guys to stop him. But yeah, he's never going to have breakaway speed, and I think he's set as RB purely to use him more. They don't have many plays that use a FB, and I think Imari's too good to keep sidelined most of the time. I dunno, there's not a good answer for him. Not fast enough to be a true RB, but not bulky enough to be a FB lane maker either.
  3. Wilbon is gonna be a stud later, and I won't be surprised if he takes Newby's spot when he's gone. But he's young and hasn't proven much other than very good moves and situational awareness. His pass blocking is pretty bad, his ball handling scares the hell out of me, and I don't know how good he catches play action passes. Give him reps when possible and groom him for a year, and he could be this team's next Ameer.
  4. There was a drive early on where we were gaining momentum and a USC player faked an injury. All the air let out of the stadium and it never came back. I'm sick of the fans in the stadium being so damn gun shy. Today, they were completely quiet until Foltz got hurt. Hey, when your team isn't doing well, that's when they need you the most! Don't just sit on your hands and play little red schoolhouse. As for which game hurt more, Wisconsin, most definitely. I expected both games to be tough and wouldn't have been surprised with a loss. I was shocked at the team just laying down at Wisconsin though. 2006 was when NE played at USC, you're thinking of 2007 when it was the battle of offenses because both teams' defense blew that year.
  5. You're making all these statements that, if I was a lesser man, I'd totally throw back at you at the end of this season. But I don't know you. You might have a history of getting things wrong, so I won't be too harsh.
  6. You know what hurt the most? USC 2006. That game was embarrassing on multiple levels. It was embarrassing because you could tell Callahan all but made a deal with Carroll. Something to the extent of 'Look, I know you'll beat us BADLY tomorrow, so if I play the blandest laziest game in my career, will you go easy on us?' I'm still convinced that's what happened, because Callahan did absolutely nothing that game. Multiple times that game Zac Taylor looked like he wanted to stab Callahan in the eye, because he wasn't being allowed to try anything fancy. That wasn't just a bad game, that was a mockery of a game. I'll take a close but bittersweet loss like this over having to repeat that cancer of a season again.
  7. so we don't beat a single team with a pulse Yes, in other words, a Bo Pelini season. Seriously, WTH are you complaining about, if there wasn't a coaching change you'd have the same thing today, possibly worse.
  8. You know the moron that said the title of your thread was fired a LONG time ago, and has absolutely nothing to do with the situation currently? Using terminology by one of the more hated people in the history of the Nebraska AC is probably not the best route to go when making a point.
  9. I hope this board isn't representative of most Husker fans.......if the people posting on this board represent Nebraska fans, well, f em. And here come the guys who judge people's fandom based on their own opinions. Super. Let me know how that works out for you. Oh man......now I feel bad. I don't. Some fans are dumb. Some dumb fans also have Internet access. Sometimes dumb fans with Internet need to be called out. I'm okay with this. Riley coached a game against a pretty damn good team, most of the time with a stellar QB holding them up, while he was playing with Pelini's leftovers. I will not judge Riley now when he's still getting adjusted to his players, rather at the end of the season when he's come to know them better and wrapped a playbook around them. I expected changes in character, motivation and confidence. All of those for the team did improve, as did the bipolar nature of the team itself. Anyone who was expecting instant glorious improvement back to the good ol' days are morons.
  10. I think it's fine, I just wanted to see the team fighting for a full 4 quarters. While they weren't playing at the same level all the way through, they weren't giving up, or getting frustrated. The penalties looked more like ones from first game jitters than frustration and anger. There were a lot of new starters on the team, some of which only had a week to prep for the game. They have a lot to work on, but I liked the plays they tried when they switched up, there were clearly halftime adjustments that worked, and I think the coaches will get more comfortable with their players as the season continues. The loss is bittersweet, but I also think it's a good reminder to the fans that this is a mediocre team when Pelini left, and Riley won't be working miracles with them. In short: bad loss, team is still bipolar but does feel like progress is happening. And as a bonus, it's nice to have a post game interview where the coach owns the game and talks about what he did wrong. It doesn't dismiss the loss, but it makes me feel a little better.
  11. I had a feeling this season would be a 4 loss season, this was a game I thought would be close but a loss. To be honest, they played better than I expected. Coaches need to learn their team a little more, but I give them props for making it as close as it was. This makes me think it's still a 4 loss season and nothing worse, unless they lose more players. Now at least they know what to work on, secondary needs work or shifts in players, kicking is clearly an issue, and they need to keep the playbook for the offense stay as diverse as it was at times for the entire game. And truthfully, I'm looking forward to see how Riley handles the post game.
  12. Should've been a zone read, just give it to Tommy and let him decide and own it.
  13. Is Brown injured? I'm confused. I'm thinking of that ugly kick he made in the 1st half. No offense, but one bad kick on a windy day doesn't make him a bad kicker.
  14. Common mistake, but usually punt kickers and field goal/PAT kickers are different folks.
