  1. It should be noted, however, that those same arguments (or variations thereof) were given for excluding blacks and females. One of the wonderful things about the military is the ability to assimilate disperate individuals into a cohesive whole - and in doing so, remove much of the stigma that was originally associated with "others". The truth is that allowing openly gay individuals would work the same way. Those that are "flaming" would wash out pretty quickly - or more likely won't elect to enter the service. The remainder would fit in. Would there be problems? Yes, initially. But as with minorities and women, they would be overcome. happens in the arts/music too, like REAL well....ivory, ebony, la la
  2. How bout we let him be in office for over a month before we start talking about the 'change' he's made. Everything seems the same to me so far. And whenever you wanna exit stage left, show yourself the door. spoken like a true conservative....yea, i better not get into political smack....
  3. befitting for KU's new 'facilities'
  4. I still feel beat down and emotionally traumatized from 8 years of those guys. Obama's such a welcome change!
  5. Sorry, can't fall into line on this one, the guy deserves all of that and a whole lot more.....total a$$hole that guy, and Cheney too. Anyhoo, I think I'll make an exit stage LEFT b4 I'm skinned to da bOne......
  6. Well, I think it's going to be a 1-2 punch, daily dose of both Helu and Castille, depending on the situation. And yes, expect to see Mendoza in there as a regular backup and possibly on KO/punt returns. (p.s., I'm really tired of hearing about Castille's 'fumble problem'. Being blown way outta proportion..) Anybody got a word on how Okafor's panning out?
  7. "Late at night, in times of repose, I have often wondered what some young chiseled FULLback might say or do would he were suddenly love struck with a pumped up, virile, All American QB bigshot...the protocol for romance in the lockerroom must be extremely 'diceeey'...."
  8. Gay pride? That's just fabulouz! Hell, it's a parade... Yea, and the best thing about it is you can 'walk on both sides of the street'. Serious question Army Husker, what do you think of the possible removal of don't ask don't tell? I actually had to chapter out an E-5 when I was a 1st LT, guy was a great tank gunner. As an officer in the United States Army, I would say that I will fully support and obey any legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by the Commander in Chief, my boss. B) Yeah.....we had to tow the same line as well. But I did it with pride and the best I could. Yeah yeah yeah AH, I got all that. You are allowed to still have a personal opinion on something, you may not be able to demonstrate but they still let you vote. Anyway good luck if this happens, will be a morale nightmare in some sectors I think. That it will...I like the if it ain't broke, dont fix it approach. If you like people of the same sex, I don't wanna f'in hear about or see it...just get the job done when you're at work. Right now, a majority of people as a whole don't look too kindly on gay people, which would cause disruption at work. Disruption affects productivity, and not to sound cliche', that could cost someone a life. Unfortunately, personal opinions in this job take a back burner to mission accomplishment. I trust that a right decision will be made and regardless of whether or not I agree with it, I will abide by that decision. You can well bet though that situations of a possible hostile work environment will be a key negative factor that will keep the don't ask, don't tell policy intact. Guess that's my opinion. "That sounds soO 'un-fabuluz'!...."
  9. I posted a huge picture. That's it, I surrender, mega jumbo smiley wins! ^^^
  10. Really? Majority of the Democrats would rather shrink the military to a smaller force. During Clinton's time in Office, our mantra was "Do more with less". I suspect, the military will have to fall back on that mantra again with Obama in office. Well, if you are not fighting 2-3 wars at once you don't need a big military. The plan is to pull outta Iraq, shift more guys into Afghanistan, but mainly get most of the troops home, so they say. It's well documented that those in the army are stretched to the max with both wars going on. What I really meant, though, was, you come home from Iraq and you're not going to get killed in Iraq. But I'm a pacifist, so I'm not in 'fashion' in these types of conversations..
  11. Well, KU beat Mizzou so ya gotta love them J's for that! One of the best games of the year.
  12. i don't think they even had a sell out till two years ago and even when i was last there it was still fairly empty twords the top. I do not think that is true, and you are missing the point. We are not Nebraska, OU, etc (see earlier), but you do not get to start there. That is life, you build. You guys could afford some crappy years, because you have generations of people now who live and breather your football. If you sucked for a long time, it could go away, but that is hard to do when you are Nebraska. Just do not assume we cannot improve. We do have very nice facilities, a lot of recruits seem sold on them. They are a little smaller than NUs, but they are newer and football only, which I understand is another difference. At KU now, The gameday environment is really very nice, and the crowds are good. We now have the makings of a very good fan base. Also, the fact that you sold out 30 years ago is cool, but it makes little difference on what the gameday environment feels like. You do have an awesome environment, but the fact that our games were sold out when I was a baby is not selling that many recruits. The fact that it is cool probably sells more, and it is getting pretty cool in Lawrence, so that is progress for us. We are not likely to out tradition you anytime soon, but that is not how we can win on Saturdays. We don't want to be you, recruits who will only play for a ;legendary program won't pick us right now anyway, so playing the "tradition" that is not a good strategy for us over the next 10 years. We want to be a better Kansas than we were, and in that regard we are progressing mightily. It's a lot like life, you make yourself better and don't try to be what your not. We can be a good football school,a nd already are proving that. No question for it to be credible it must survive longer than it has. No one really knows for sure if that will happen, but our investments in the program help make that a lot more likely. If any of you boys want to come tailgate next year, if my company does not ship me by that time I am happy to host you. Even Bruno, as long as he is not overly fabulous. It's too bad many of you cannot relate to what the baseline is for comparing and seeing an improvement, but I hope it never returns for you to see.... But how can I NOT be fabuluz? It's who I am! 'Funkyzeit mit bruno'! Hmmm, hmmmm, the first thing I'd like to reiterate, and this is not directed at mr. jayhawk persay, that NE HAS ONLY HAD 3 CRAP YEARS SINCE 1968, or so. And one of those was 7-7, which, yea, by our standard IS the end o' the world, but whatEVER! It's a good thing that KU's program is growing/improving becoming a formidable opponent. Mangino is the shiznit, so I'm cool with that. But to play devil's advocate here, let's say that KU levels out as a 7-8 win type team: how do you see KU's fan interest continuing then? NE is not totally 'back' so we shouldn't be basking too much in our prematurely perceived return to glory status. However, that old time feeling is creeping it's way back, gaining momentum, a perfect storm a brewin'. And we have OZ and BO to credit for that. BO is PERFECT for NE, has IT in a big way and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if Big Red starts to separate from the pack that is the rest of the North within the next few years. KU, next year offers a key opportunity to win the North, just like Mizzou had their big chance to win the CC this year. Carpe diem, cuz this 'diem' may not last too long....
