  1. What is the total cost to the University of Nebraska for year one of the contract, including salary to the new guy and buy out money to UW?
  2. I hope the same as well. I like Coach Ruhle and am really hoping he can find success. And I am pulling for Fred too. I guess at the end of the day, if Ruhle and Fred do some good things and keep the heat down, most average Husker fans won't think too much about the AD or the president anyways.
  3. All I am saying is that Nebraska fans hear from a lot of people that say.. look what is being done now. This is the fix we need and what came before was not good enough or not right or ultimately flawed. And then there is so much change that no one remains that made the decisions that resulted in bad things and then we are told, but NOW we have it figured out. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. Kind of hard to care about this round of fixes when history says that they probably won't be the fixes we needed anyways.
  4. This is a confusing deal for me .... Moos is great. Way better than the red-haired assassin and he brought us great coaches like Scott and Fred. Then Frost sucks. And Moos is a drunk Trev HIRED. He is the greatest and he's a true Husker Trev brought us a great coach in Matt Rhule and is going to make a move to get rid of Fred soon Trev bolts for A&M so he's a traitor and terrible. Fred takes NU to the NCAA so he gets an extension without the need to see if this is one year and then back to the bad deal We hire UW's AD. He's a true midwestern guy. But didn't we think Moos had a midwestern mindset UW guy understands the Big 10 but led programs that played in the Mo Valley and the American UW guy left his post after only months of employment, no big deal UW guy has strong ties to Ruhle and that's a good thing. Soooo. If Fred struggles in the next couple years, he's gone. And the extension was another bad extension for NU in a history of bad extensions and was given while we didn't even have a full time AD in place. If Matt struggles, then it was bad that he had a hand in the AD deal because he was trying to insulate himself with HIS guy If the AD gets bounced or leaves it was a bad decision to make with leadership in flux. Matt will then be a pro guy who didn't get Nebraska And the AD will have been a bad hire too somehow Follow the bouncing ball. Everyone is loyal until they are not loyal. And every Husker fan needs to be loyal and can't be frustrated by the constant musical chairs and varying opinions on this stuff.
  5. Texas A&M comparison to Nebraska which favors the Huskers is kinda funny. I remember when Childress left Nebraska baseball to go to College Station, most people understood. A&M has certain advantages with money in their programs. And then there's comparisons between Nebraska football and its win total or its accomplishments versus A&M, According to On3, Texas A&M has recruited 98 four or five star athletes and won a recruiting national title in the last six cycles and one year they had nine five star players. Nebraska had 10 four star recruits one year in that stretch and 35 total four or five star guys with just the one five star, our new QB. Now A&M did nothing with its good fortunes on the recruiting trail and Jimbo got the boot. Maybe Elko won't do much better. But if we are looking at the potential of A&M, with the right push, getting to the top four of the SEC or Nebraska getting to the top four of the BIG 10 in a 14-team playoff where ADs will be judged by playoff appearances.....
  6. I followed the box score until about eight minutes left in the first half and then listened to Kent Pavelka and he brought it home with an always entertaining Kent call. Amazing win for Nebrasketball. To all those true believers who stuck with this team through all kinds of lows, this one is for you. I’ve been discouraged in the past and kept hoping that someday we would have a fun season and go dancing in March. Lots of work to do, but tonight is special in Lincoln. Very Special. GBR!
  7. Blue Blood? We were a dominant team in the 1990s and we were a consistent top performer for a 40 year stretch and that doesn't include some of the pre WWII stuff. Yes. Blue Blood. You can definitely say that we lead the nation in not being respected. E$PN How can that network have an intro for a pre-game show and have the song and the images address all the great programs in the country without mentioning Nebraska? And yet the same intro talks about Colorado and PRIME. Even back in the mid 1990s, the ESPN guys picked Florida to beat Nebraska. I believe Corso said we would lose by a lot. UMMMMM Ok. Regardless, the bottom line is that the Nebraska that did all the great things is really no more. Coach Rhule is trying to build something from the ground up. But the accolades we achieve with this version of Nebraska would add to an already impressive list of Blue Blood type accomplishments.
  8. Certainly I can't be the only one wondering this, but the first word that Dylan might be flipping came from a recruiting analyst with close ties to the family. And then our OL coach gets a raise. And then the talk just kind of hangs in the air without any word as to a flip or even a decommit. And now we are getting closer to the signing day and still nothing on a flip or even a decommit. If Georgia gets their QB, I am enough of a jaded fan to believe that the whole thing was contrived for a little extra lettuce. Just sayin'
  9. I feel what you are saying with this. Haarberg and Purdy had moments this year and I would like to see them get developed. I was really high on Purdy with his drive against Maryland and his performance early on against Wisky. Sucks that INTs again caused the games to go against us. I would like to be fired up for Purdy to be the guy. But it's hard to trust that development will happen so I got to just put it out of my mind on that front and check back in eight months time when I will be at least somewhat fired up to see if it happens. KM, DR and DK had me fired up now and that would have made the offseason a little easier to deal with. We need solid QB play and I don't care where that comes from. If I could be assured that some FCS guy no one has ever heard of was going to lead us to 10 wins next year, I would be over the moon fired up for that guy. We just can't know such things. And it's fun to talk about five star QBs so that's what we dream of. It doesn't make five star the best plan let alone the only plan.
  10. I was really convinced that DR and KM were headed to Nebraska. And I was building some hope for the future. Even thought DK might stay in the long term and we would have three guys who are viable for this year and DR really taking the reigns in 2025. With KM out and DK leaning out the door, I am feeling what others have noted in this thread. We might not get any. And then take a QB out of the portal that's left over and then struggle and ... rinse, repeat.
  11. Makes you wonder if Missouri is thinking about making a run at DK. They had him before when we were chasing DR. We lost out DR, Missouri probably was not too surprised that DK came back home. Now that DR is back in the picture, maybe the Tigers start thinking about reaching out to DK the same way we are trying to reach out to DR. The only thing that would suck is a future where DR/KM don't work out and DK does really well for MU or Mich State or someone else and then reflects back on it in some TV interview like Burrow did. That said, best wishes to all and hopefully all the QB news is the first sign that Nebraska is turning a corner with Coach Ruhle.
  12. I didn't get rid of any Husker gear. Guess I am too cheap to buy new gear ... LOL. And even when I was down on the team, I knew that, given enough time, I was going to be going back to the Kool Aid bar to get all set up for 2024. LOL
  13. When the season ended with four losses and a thud, I was ready to leave Husker football behind for a bit. Call it a cooling off period until I could get the juices flowing again. And I wasn't going to care about recruiting. And blah, blah, blah. And now, well, here I am waiting for some grand announcement. Sure is funny how we do this to ourselves. But here we go again. Got to love fandom.
  14. Really hoping the story that leads us into the offseason is one about how Chubba bloomed in the last three games, broke our bowl-less streak and led us to a bowl win so we can have our first winning season since Mike Riley's 2016 team went 7-0 on the way to 9-4. I really feel like Chubba is playing his way into being the quarterback that bridges our rough past into a brighter tomorrow. PLEASE let that be TRUE!!!!
  15. Coach Rhule gave his last game week presser yesterday ahead of the Iowa game and I left it feeling pretty good about the leadership we have and what that could mean for the future despite a season where Nebraska could finish short of a bowl game for the seventh consecutive year. We had game management issues and we've had play calling issues and blah blah blah. We have had only five wins. We've lost one score games and I am tired of watching that crap time after time. It's frustrating and I get it. But I am excited about our young players. Chubba looked fantastic early on last week. I really hope he is the future. The running back position, starting with EJ, looks good. And the defense has been really nice this year, not only production but also from a development standpoint and from a tackling standpoint. I liked the fact that Chubba got the chance after sitting out and I am glad he wasn't forced into the lineup when he still wasn't 100 percent. That probably took restraint from the coach when Sims fizzled, and Heinrich struggled at times. Rhule waited for the right timing and with Heinrich still dinged up physically and SIms dinged up mentally, it was the right time. I like how he talked about Iowa too. The Iowa rivalry stuff is just lame as heck really. I have never considered Iowa as a rival. They're not very good. We haven't been very good either. This is as high of stakes as they ever get, a fight for bowl eligibility on one side and a lame trophy. Last year, NU spoiled the Hawks from going to the title game where they would have gotten blasted anyway. We probably did them a favor. Rhule signaled respect toward Iowa and the Ferentz family and I liked the spirit of it. They got some wins. Good for them. We just want to go out there and get No. 6 and get to a bowl. That leadership makes me believe in Rhule. It makes me want to cheer for him. It makes it easier to have the mentality of focusing on Nebraska and the work towards an improved product over hating any school, be it Iowa or Wisky or the Bucks or whoever. Respect your opponent. Go get wins. And go from there. Good job Coach Rhule. I hope we beat Iowa and get this bowl business behind us. Regardless though, I am hopeful for the future and glad we have a good HC.
