  1. First game as a Huskers fan, and happy to see that they are dominating.
  2. Another question: Throw Dem Bones.... What's that all about?
  3. Newbie question here about the offensive line. How would you describe the blocking screens that we use? Zone, Man, a bit of everything?
  4. Thanks Tim, I hope that your wife is doing well... these things are big sacrifices but if it gives them life its certainly worth it. In answer to your question, it will be Children's of UNMC we'll be going to. We've heard good things about it. Thanks for the tip on the College World Series..... I've struggled to embrace baseball as a sport but if its live in real life any sports event is worth a look.
  5. Thanks for that.... While we are on the nickname thing. Blackshirts is the nickname of the defense right? It has been for a long time because the first team defense practices in black shirts? Have I got that right.. And the appropriate saying is Go Big Red?
  6. I'm really hoping to get to a game while I'm there. I already have one offer to take me along fom a friend on texanstalk.com who is also a Nebraska fan. I plan to get to a Huskers game and am figuring on planning a trip down to Houston for a Texans game. In the perfect world I would get there on a weekend with the Rockets playing too. I'm working on adjusting my thinking from pro football to college football....
  7. Football related question before I dig through all these posts.... How woud you summarise the defense style of the Huskers? Cover 2, man to man, blitzing, read and react etc..... I'd really appreciate a quick take so I can filter things I read in that light.
  8. FWIW, we've learnt that we're blessed by things not being generally easy. We've become better people and our trust in God has grown exponentially since things hit the fan..... It may sound strange but I guess its a matter of perspective... God is good all time, to all his people, in all their circumstances.
  9. Thanks everyone for the very warm welcome. Extra thanks for all the prayers heading Aria (my daughters) way...... you can learn about her at www.aria.org.nz if your curious. Our faith has got us this far, and we have prayer warriors all over the world praying for her and we know every prayer counts. One clarification, we aren't in Nebraska quite yet, we should be getting there September-ish. I'm just doing my preperation work so I can hit the ground running once I get there. Thanks too for all the links. When I get home from work (10am here) I'll hit all those links and drink in the history.
  10. Big League fan. Had been a season ticket holder with of the New Zealand Warriors till the kids came along and life got complex. They are domestic sports team of choice.
  11. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? Define fan? I've been trying to learn about the Huskers since I knew we were heading to Nebraska about 3 months ago.... 2) What/who led you to The Nation? The need for a sporting fix while in Omaha. 3) Where are you from originally? Manurewa, Auckland, New Zealand (a long long long way from Lincoln) 4) Where do you live now? Still NZ for another month or two 5) Favorite Husker memory? Being welcomed so kindly by huskerboard.com members 7) Number of home games attended? 0 8) Number of away games attended? 0 9) Favorite all time player? Kris Brown - now of the Houston Texans. (diehard Texans fan) 10) WCO or Option? Option everytime..... WCO = Zzzzzzzzzz 11) How did you find HuskerBoard? Google!
  12. I'm sorry to hear your stuck in Australia..... you could try and convince your wife to cross the ditch to NZ and the promised land. At least here in NZ the games are on at breakfast time not in the middle of the night.
  13. Hello Husker fans, I need to be indoctrinated in the lore, history and culture of the Huskers. I'm a New Zealander (check your atlases) who will be heading to Omaha with my family later this year because my daughter needs a life saving multi-organ transplant at the Childrens Hospital. I'm a huge sports fan (diehard Houston Texans and Houston Rockets fan) who doesn't yet have a college team to root for and I'd love to adopt the Huskers as my team to follow while in Nebraska. So what do I need to know? I've read some of the history of the team, I'm guessing I should instantly dislike Bill Callahan and mourn for the passing of the option...... I know next to nothing about the current team, although I'm of the impression they run the west coast offense... Indoctrinate me please......
