  1. On a more serious note, I would think Al Golden might be on Eichorst's short list. And what about his connections to Wisconsin? Their OC from last yr is now FSU's OC, and we know how dangerous those offenses were/are.
  2. You might consider this a homer pick coming from a Broncos fan, but even when he was HC in Jacksonville, I thought Jack Del Rio would be a nice fit in the college ranks. Just an idea....
  3. Huskers win 44-20. By air, 245 yards. By ground, 260 yards.
  4. Saw this last night against ISU, and just makes me sick that Texas has 2 legit fumbles, BOTH RECOVERED BY ISU, at games end, and neither call goes the Cyclones' way. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/iowa-state-coach-paul-rhoads-sounds-off-no-051005912--ncaaf.html Does this bother anyone else, or have we all moved on thankful that our league is not owned and run by Texas?
  5. NU wins 35-34, barely surviving a 4th quarter scoring barrage from IL. By ground - 275 By air - 260 GBR!!!
  6. Considering the OWH released an article saying that every booster they spoke with didn't care much about the audio, felt Bo's job was secure over that aspect, and said it was about on field results, I'm going to say you're completely wrong on this point. And I'll rebut with "I think they were just trying to save face." But, even if I am wrong about that, which is completely possible, you gotta admit it's been tough getting a true read on how Perlman and Eichorst feel about the whole thing. Sure, their press release indicated they've moved past it, but I think we all know there's often times a lot more going on behind the scenes.
  7. I'm going with very likely for 3 reasons: 1) I don't think this team will win the division and get to the B1G title game. Considering how much easier this year's schedule is compared to the last 2 years, the conference title game is a must for Pelini. 2) I think the leaked audio from 2011 has a much more negative impact on Pelini's bosses and boosters than most might think. 3) I don't know who it might be, but methinks there's another coach on our AD's short list who can take us to the next level. And I don't think Eichorst is afraid to go get him and get Nebraska's trampled name out of mediocrity and back into the positive spotlight.
  8. If this defense or these defensive coaches think anywhere near your second comment, they all need to be tested for drugs. There is not one team in all of college football that is scared of this defense. SDSU proved that on Saturday. I completely agree. There's no room for any defense, at any level, to think that way. But these are 18-21 year old kids, and sometimes they don't think quite as maturely as the rest of us. Honestly I think there's merit to this particular line of thought (otherwise I wouldn't have brought it up), simply based on how easily they get "shocked" when things like this happen against FCS foes (and the other 15 teams that have racked up huge yards on Bo's defenses in the last couple years). How can they work hard and make progress at practice each week, and then come out the do this on such a regular basis? To me, this is a mental thing, not so much a skills things. We all know if you have the wrong mental approach, you'll get burned on way or the other...on the flipside, the right mental approach will help you do the types of things we've seen glimpses of against tough teams (eg. 1st qtr vs UCLA, first 3 qtrs vs. Georgia, etc.).
  9. First of all Paps won't get fired ... at least not during the season. Secondly, I just have to wonder if the guys on defense have some sort of god complex that makes them approach games in a way that our opponents will just bend to our will simply because we're Nebraska. Based on our performance on the field so far, I have a really hard time believing these guys are working as hard as the coaches say they are during practice and then translating that "effort" into solid play on Saturdays.
  10. Cool article from outsider looking in. IMHO this is a good reputation to have at a national level.
  11. I would say Mendenhall has a bit more to prove, but I like where you're going with picking someone like that. IMHO it would be great to find someone similar to the HC who just beat us - Mora - someone with HC experience, either in FBS, FCS or NFL, who is a genius of a coach and capable of getting a very good staff in place. I don't have names at the moment, but it seems like UCLA has a nice blueprint for a program (like Nebraska) that wants and needs to get to the next level.
  12. See, this is the challenge. Bo will consistently have NU at 8-10 wins, which is good enough for most coach's to keep their jobs. It's the point ABOVE the "easy to fire" point but below the "easy to keep" point. I just think Nebraska needs a coach that can put y'all in a position to WIN championships. I like Bo, I just don't think he's "the guy" Right on the money. That's 8-10 win pergatory is what makes this whole thing so difficult.
