I disagree with Gus Johnson by the way. Yeah, Turner might have caught the ball with more focus, but it would not have made a difference. He'd have fallen down in the process of making that catch. He was running across the middle of the field and that ball went behind him.
Maybe if he does better at stopping on a dime and adjusting back to get it, he'd have it. But there's no way he would have had a first down.*
*-I suppose with Turner, you technically don't know. Maybe he could have danced around for 10 more seconds and gotten there eventually
In seriousness though, he would've been tackled right away. Taylor needs to throw that ball in front of him, lead the receiver. When it's third down and you throw short of the sticks, you have to enable YAC. Turner was looking for that YAC, but the ball wasn't placed there. It happens sometimes, I wouldn't rake either player over the coals for it. Taylor had plenty of pressure.

Valid then, too. We made some good second-half adjustments...but then again, Southern Miss doesn't have near the amount of wasted/languishing talent that UCLA has.
Unrealized talent + new coach + no film for opposition to study = nightmare.
