Marrow to Kentucky

He's been a good TE coach for multiple places now and we're seeing what he can do with recruiting. Just because our Rush O has been good, we get to forget how our Pass pro has been? Be realistic now, we can live with Cotton in the AD but it would really hurt this class if Marrow goes and future classes as well if the trend continued...
I don't get how you think he is a good TE coach? Sure he may have been at Toledo, but we're not Toledo. Whole different conference at that. Ron Brown has formed our TE's into what they are today. Garrison can't even take credit for that, how can Marrow? Two players, one never even committing and a 3* DE doesn't make me all jolly on hiring him. I am sorry, just not enough. Your so ready to throw Cotton under the bus, but why not Garrison? What has he done that makes him so valuable?

Apparently it is a done deal: Marrow will be coaching at kentucky and is already on campus starting to work per Brian Eldridge, Kentuckys Scout contributor
I am not sure how much I believe this. I can not find a single report on this, and you know a booster or the University of Nerbaska, or Kentucky for that matter, would have said something publicly.

Doing more research right now.

Not sure if this is allowed but here is what I read.
Look at all the retweets he did from a UK sports columnist, one in which he said he has talked to Marrow and has direct quotes, that has just happened in the last few minutes. Looks like it is a sure thing. If it is, we need to do our best to move on and start talking to our Ohio recruits immediately.
gottcha. I think these radio snippets I here on our local espn are recorded a day earlier. Hence, i'm way behind the new as usual .

TBH, the reason why Cotton is catching more grief from me is because he's older, he should know by now how to get some passing schemes taught. And if neither can get it done, I'm all in for getting rid of both, keeping Marrow and hiring a proven OL coach who doesn't need a butt buddy to do his job with him and waste a staff slot. I just 'feel' that Marrow has a high ceiling that I'd like to have kept here as he could have been that Solich type of coach that just keeps staying...

Speaking of which, why the hell is Stoops hiring Ohio buddies for his staff? I thought Bo was only one in the coaching profession that did this.

Your asking Bo to fire a guy who has Nebraska #6 in rushing offense, for a guy who has yet to show his coaching abilities. Cotton is a strong recruit for the OL, and its shown. Look at Corey Whitacker, Givens-Price, Sterup and Thurston. Most of you guys probably forget how highly recruited some of these kids were. Marrow is only a loss in recruiting for TE wise, which we are fine at.

well if true this really sucks and dont want to say the sky is falling but i just hope we dont see a domino effect happen.. both with recruits and potential recruits...... amazing to think this might set us back in recruiting.... i wonder if true how Bo let this get away..... was it impossible to stop??? i dont know
It was able to be stopped, Bo just would have had to give a qualified guy a full time job instead of still dicking him around as a GA...
What makes him qualify? As you, myself, or anyone else on this board don't know how well of a coach he is. Unless you are in the practices, or on the coaching staff, you don't know. Sure he has a tie to Ohio. He has helped with recruiting TWO recruits, one on the fence that no one knows if he was going to commit, and our newest commit Antoine.
I would also put C. Love in that recruiting list, but I agree with you. It's not as simple as everyone is acting like it is just to fire or reorganize Cotton and promote Marrow. Nebraskans always talk about loyalty and not being like the SEC. Our O-line was not the problem, so I don't think this is an easy solution. I'm sure Bo has an idea what recruits this could effect (committed and not) and will make/made a decision based on those factors.

To say our O-line wasn't a problem is a clueless statement to me... False starts, holds, missed blocks, getting pushed around... Those aren't characteristics of a good O-line. yet they were recurring features of our. Other B1G teams DC's stated it was easy to push our line around, especially in pass pro. Our running is more of a testament to the skill of our RB's over either OL coaches scheming or coaching ability, just being honest....

So we hire a 2nd oline coach then have Stai etc and now we give credit to Cotton....Marrow is a better coach and recruiter than Cotton. Marrow is tied into multiple recruits and does more than his share of recruiting.

You put that ahead of the defense, special teams, game-planning - all the things that doesn't fall directly under Cotton? In turn, that is a clueless statement to me. So while it would be easy to make Cotton the scapegoat, it's not the main reason we failed at times this year.

How many holding and false start penalties did we have this year?

On the second, citation?

I'm not putting anything above anything. Just like people blame Martinez for all his fumbles when a good majority of them are from when he was blindsided due to terrible pass pro. A team is a whole bunch of cogs that all need to be working for success so me saying Cotton could be better isn't saying the other areas don't need work, this is a convo about Marrow and who I believe we could have gotten rid of to keep him.

Interesting how many accuse Bo of not knowing what he's doing, hiring inexperienced coaches and only hiring his buddies.

Now we're about to lose one and the meltdown begins...

I'd have to look, but I know there was three times this year that I saw us have first and 30's due to holds and false starts.

I'm not one of those people and I could be way off base on if Marrow is good, but I know what I see in Cotton and I know we could have better, not being a Cotton hater, just being honest.

By all means, look and get back to us.
