Chip Kelly

Wonder if Phil Knight didn't wanna pony up the cash to keep him, or if Kelly just wanted to be in the NFL that bad. Either way, going to miss the guy, always liked his teams and his style of coaching (even if he is a snake).

I don't follow NFL but it could be interesting to see what kind of offense he installs.

Time to dig up some Chip quotes from when he supposedly decided to stay at Oregon. Always fun to look back and see what kind of misinformation these coaches put out there.

I was wondering about this. I thought I remember a press release but wasn't sure. So, I guess it's not as surprising as I thought since he never officially announced he was staying.

 
I would imagine that looming NCAA sanctions might have something to do with Kelly's decision. He had a pretty sweet deal there, with all that Nike money so readily available, facilities at or near the top in the country, and a pipeline of recruits flowing in. Seems like he hasn't accomplished anything that would put a period on his time in Eugene, but there he goes. Makes you wonder what's coming down the pipe for Oregon.

 
Probably won't matter too much, alot of kids go to Oregon because of: uniforms, facilities, and location (west coast kids)

Plus, they said if Kelly left they would promote their OC to Head Coach.

I have been following Oregon and NCAA violations - what are they looking into and is stuff that would fall directly on Kelly's shoulders?

 
What opens my eyes is he turned down the Browns after a couple days of "thinking" about it and said he was staying at Oregon. Now a week later, he's off to another franchise. Did he here or see something infraction/punishment-wise that made him change his mind? Has to be, right?
