Memorial Stadium’s FieldTurf will be replaced before the upcoming season, an athletic department spokesman confirmed.

The replacement project is set to begin Monday with the removal of the old turf, which served its cause for eight years, installed in the summer of 2005.

The installation of the new surface, which will have the same design as the old one, will be completed before the beginning of fall camp.

Cost of the project is set at $379,120.90 and will be paid for out of the athletic department’s 2014 Capital Projects budget.

I had a feeling this would end up happening this summer. We've got this beautiful new expansion on the stadium opening up, and new arena a few blocks away, why not spend an extra little bit of coin and have a new field as well to go along with all of that in the same year. Especially with the shambles the current field is in to begin with.
