This is why?

If Nunn holds onto the ball, this is a dead issue. I don't think there would be any bitching about it otherwise.

How can you say the play call was to blame for a fumble??? Does that make any sense whatsoever? I really don't think so. Who is to say that they don't try to run Glenn up the middle and he fumbles it? The play call had nothing to do with us losing. Like someone said above, there would be people complaining if they just ran three and out, so whatever... It was a good game, that's all there is to it.

I was a great coach today too. I called the shovel pass and told ZT to hand off with 2 minutes to go. Please send my check certified thank you.

j/k

No matter what a great game to watch. I didn't get to see the last 30 seconds except for the pass to the EZ.

Freakin' ESPN gamepuds.

GBR

EDIT: Just to clarify this post I was being facetious.

Nunn was past the first down markers, if he doesn't fumble we win...Why is that a bad call? If he holds onto the ball like good players do then you would be praising Callahan for the play call.

This thread should be called "Why nothing Callahan EVER does will be good enough for me." Me being the chap that started this thread not myself.

If you think this was a bad play call you are kidding yourself.

Callahan is getting better every week. His play calling in the second half this week was very good. I don't even blame him for the 2nd quarter fiasco today. Taylor needs to throw the ball quicker (on blitzes) or get rid of it (out of bounds). Callahan does need some serious work on clock management. My son (who is 12 even asked me why they weren't calling a time out after that 1st down and goal for Texas.) We could have had the ball back with about 50 seconds left to kick a field goal with the wind. However, this loss is just unfortunate. We had it and Texas took it away. Simple as that. We will get them again later on and hopefully the score will be reversed.

One more thing. I was taught in 7th grade (probably before that for many of you) that when you are a punt returner, if you can't return it AT LEAST fair catch. I freakin almost loose my mind everytime that we fail to do this simple task. It cost us soooo much momentum today. It may have cost us a score in the first quarter and definately put them in position for their 1st TD. That is at least 10 points directly related to catching a freakin punt. If Nunn or Swift are afraid to do this then find someone else who will.

In another thread you might be kidding youreself. But this was a bad loss. Yes, we played w/ Tesas. But we should haVE one. Or at least put the game in the D's hands. I have bitched about this since soon after it happeneed.

Not ral mpressed. Yes, it wasn't BC'x call. but you have to teke into account who screws upl

So with your way of thinking we might as well have punted on third down.

Do you think when Callahan called that play he figured we were going to fumble the ball away? I bet he figured if we didn't get the yardage needed(which we did) we would punt the ball away and play defense. So would you have been complaining if we had held onto the ball? I would say you wanted have and you would be saying how it was a great call. Well probably not since your hate for Callahan wouldn't allow you to.

You say you have to take into account who screws up. What does that even mean? We shouldn't throw to Nunn anymore? Or are you once again blaming Callahan like you do every time something doesn't go the Big Red's way.

Some people in the "Husker Nation" kill me. They complain and say Callahan is to conservative and plays not to lose. Then when he does play to win they say he should have been conservative. Some people will never be happy.

You know,Lucky has fumbled in the past, so why the hell was he in the game on the halfback pass.... and Zac had a fumble earlier in the game, so why wasn't Ganz in the game at the end....Glenn has never fumbled in his life,so he needed the ball in his hands at the end................

Do you guys know how stupid that sounds? We all have wanted Cally to use all of his offense, and at the end, he made a great call, the WCO worked,we had a 1st down, and Texas was done, then the football gods gave Texass another freakin chance.I'm going to be frustrated with the crappy luck of today, but VERY happy that I saw lots of effort, and an offensive gameplan that but for bad luck, beat the #5 team in the country. Nunn is a big part of our team, and he needs our support more now then he ever did before.

I haven't seen the 1st half yet (My 5 yr old son's Soccer game was the same time).

But I was impressed for the 1st time this season.

How did the Offensive Line adjust so well in the 2nd half? Listening to the halftime report on the radio, they made it sound pretty porous.

Nunn sounds like an easy target for Blame, but looking at replays of his fumble, I don't see anyone holding onto that ball...That was a direct hit to the ball before he had a chance to put it away.

Hopefully, he'll learn from the punt return and shake it off.

You should've heard me yelling at the TV on that last fumble..."No 3&out!!!...Pass that sucker...OMG..He Passed IT!!!..GREA...OOPs...Now why did he pass that?..

Actually...What impressed me most about Our play calling WAS that pass!!(Never thought I'd utter those words this season).

We'll get there.

:madash

People complaining about the coaches decisions is getting really old!!!!! Now if Nunn would have held onto that ball people would be singing Callahan's praises!!!! What about Taylor throwing an interception, or fumbling the ball, or how about Texas fumbling the ball twice and we didn't get it back either time when we should have had so many guys around that ball that we would have had it. So many things could've, should've, would've we could do this all day.....I was at the game I was very upset because we gave them the opportunity to win the game...they didn't earn it we handed it to them, but mistakes happen in games all the coaches can do is make the calls and hope his players can run the play correctly. If we make it to the Big 12 championship game you can bet that we know how to play Texas now, what their weaknesses are and THAT game will mean more because it won't just be a regular season win on Oct. 21st it will be for the BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP and that will mean so much more............. :bonez
