Harvey is a very able chancellor by all accounts, and most of the opinion to the contrary is that he reprimanded Bo one time. Bo deserved it. The backlash against HP is ridiculous.

Bo's been frustrated before. With the fans, with the administration. Not once has he, himself, made this public in a classless way.

On the other hand, Bo runs a clean program. The hundreds of student athletes that go through this program, I'm sure there are some malcontents, but most would absolutely run through a wall for him. He has their backs like nobody's business, and the backs of the assistant coaches who work under him, too. He does right by all these people, and that's putting it lightly.

In a CFB world riddled with actual scandal, Bo's great crime is being a d!ck to members of the media. OK, let's be clear, he's a real jerk to almost all of them. Way, way over the top. They do jobs that are at odds with each other and Bo doesn't handle the friction at all, to say the least I hope he smooths things over with these guys, sends them flowers or something. I just can't get all up in arms about it. All due respect to Shatel, Chatelain, etc, who I can respect would stick up for each other.

This is a fight back against Bo, and Chancellor Perlman and Shawn Eichorst are surely paying some degree of attention to the pulse of the fanbase. Let's show them it isn't all negativity, and let's define him by his loyal players and #TeamJACK, not his spat with media members, where no doubt neither side is blameless.

Tom was tired of playing referee between Bo and Harvey Tom left and now Harvey is left with this mess.

He hired Pederson, a move that was universally praised at the time. Pederson hired Callahan all by himself.

Harvey also got Nebraska into the Big 10. Which for athletic and academic reasons was huge.

The job of the Chancellor of the university isn't to run the athletic department. His job is to run the entire university. And it is a job he generally does well.

But Harvey lying to the media about this is more disconcerting. I heard rumors about this existing last summer. There's no way in hell Harvey didn't know.

Saunders, I am not sure what you are saying. You are saying that Harvey should be held responsible for hiring Pederson and then giving out the extensions for SP and BC in 2007. Then you are saying he is over-stepping his "authority" by chastizing Bo in 2010. You can't have it both ways.

AAU politics got us ousted from there. And the fact that they consider UNMC a different campus when counting research dollars. Michigan, for example, gets to count their medical center because it is on the main campus. That, and the AAU doesn't count agricultural research dollars for some odd reason.

How many have had to?

I think you underestimate the severity of the issue then. The university was never really blind to Bo's antics. AFAIK, they tired to get Bo the message on multiple occasions before that incident. It wasn't getting through.

Nope. James Moeser, now at UNC- Chapel Hill. Spanier was the one before him.

I saw Harvey in Omaha the other day. I gave him a Perl of Knowledge when I told him, "You suck."

Then I understand why you would think Bo Pelini's behavior is normal.

I'm glad most adult people I know and work with don't function in this way.

Bo Pelini's behavior is normal. So what? He gets mad, he defends his players, he defends what is important to him. And he does it in a way that you might not like, but because you don't like the way he does it doesn't make it abnormal. It makes it different than what you would do. I have a hard time with people who can seemingly pass judgment about your behavior in a situation you have never been in. Yes you know yourself, but you don't know the situation, and you must be smart enough to recognize that the situation you find yourself in dictates a good part of your behavior.

As for the second line of that dumpster fire of a post, I like how you felt it was necessary to include the word 'adult' when describing people to imply that I'm a child. Once again, way to pass judgment about a person based on what they say on a message board. I would hope that you would be smart enough (I mean you had your own run in with this kind of situation not too long ago) to understand that message board posts are devoid of context, tone, inflection, et cetera; all of which could change the meaning of the post. But hey, maybe that's not what adults you know think like.

With regards to Harvey, I should say that I don't care much about the guy. He's the chancellor of the University that I attend, and that's about all I know or care to know. For anyone who thinks I'd have the audacity to say something like that to a person I know or care hardly anything about, you are dead wrong.
