Who then?

Peterson is a good candidate, but it seems he is never leaving Boise. Family reasons.

I like Scott Frost a lot, have ever since our great fans started booing him. But under no circumstance is he ready to be a head coach. Lots of talent, just like Bo, but has no experience at all in the managerial requirements involved. That is what is killing Bo, no time to teach, recruit, train coaches and do his job, which is keeping it all together. No more OJT ever again. We do, I think we will have the exact same thing again.

If and I say if we have to make a change, we need someone that knows the trade, been successful at it, knows how to recruit and delegate authority. Puts the program in front of friends, seeks the best qualified assistants for every slot.

We need a new strength and conditioning program as much as anything, so go after the best here

Jim Tressel as HC, regardless of their past we need someone that would make the move to Lincoln and proven, someone can teach him how to e-mail

Scott Frost as OC only because he would keep the group that need some emotional tie to Osborne happy and he's coached at an elite (consistant top 5) level of play, seems to understand what it takes in 2013, if not him Bobby Petrino or get Shawn Watson back

DC let Tressel decide, because the Huskers are so irrelevant these days you're not going to get a lateral move from someone decent, they have to completely start from scratch, To keep the Solich/Pelini fans happy bring in Marvin Sanders, no one on my list would come to Nebraska with out HC possibilities like Bud Foster

Regardless we need recruiters and no more buddy hires, if you want to try out Peters as a motivational supervisor or Asst. DC for the defensive line, it's worth a try
Finally someone sees one of our most glaring faults.

I'd look at Tim DeRuyter, he made an immediate impact last year at Fresno State and now they are in the top25.

For realzies I would take Tressel in a heartbeat. Lots of coaching connections, so he would get the best assistants, plus a good cultural fit IMO.

Isn't our S&C guy pretty good?...
Are we winning? Yeah, Dobs is one of the best around.

Are we losing? That Dobson sucks. He's gotta go.
I think there's room for some criticism. Our skill guys seem to be pretty well conditioned. Our linemen, on both sides of the ball, do not. In the SDSU game, they looked gassed by the end of the first quarter. And it's become a recurring theme for our opponents to mock how weak and poorly conditioned our players are. They're actually talking about it right now on 1620. The disparity in toughness between our guys and the players from the top teams in the country is shocking.

As far as Tressel, I have an issue with taking Ohio State's castoffs. We're already dealing with Ohio State dominating us on the field. Taking their sloppy seconds as our head coach after they upgraded at the position would just help to cement our position as their little brother in the conference.

What about Greg Roman for Head Coach? "Character with cruelty" sounds like a great fit for Nebraska football.

Greg Roman, San Francisco 49ers, offensive coordinator
The positive: Has spent the last five seasons coaching under Jim Harbaugh at Stanford and with the 49ers. He'll bring the same thing Harbaugh (and Hamilton and Davd Shaw) would bring to Troy: a proven offense and a nasty attitude. It was Roman, with Harbaugh, who coined the term playing with "character and cruelty" at Stanford.

The negative: Like Hamilton, no head coaching experience.

How about James Franklin from Vandy for HC?
What has Franklin done that is so much better than Bo? He won 9 games last year and not one of them was against a team with a winning record at the end of the year including the bowl game. Plus he got blown out by all of the big boys of the conference and he lost to Northwestern.....and Kentucky.

Seems to me he is an SEC version of Pelini.

Lane Kiffen... to lead the recruiting. He has done enough damage to his rep that he's not going to be hired anywhere as a HEAD COACH for a while... at least a few years. And we could use a talent infusion. If he can bring some good classes in... Mr. Pelini is going to look a hell of a lot smarter come 2014 and 2015.

Also, get Marvin back here to coach the D.

Let the season play out. If Bo is still here come January, those are the kinds of decisions that would make sense. Upgrade DC and get a recruiter or two in here ASAP.

S&C doesn't concern me as much. We are not "running out of gas" in these games. We are getting gashed because of a lack of recruting followed by some less than fantastic coaching.

While I am not advocating Bo be fired (if loss to ILL this weekend) could be ramped up fast, I would be inclined to look at the following;

Petrino, Petersen, Richt, Tressel as HC. They would bring in their own Coordinators! Petrino did a good job in the SEC before he let his member start thinking for him. Petersen does not need any introduction as we all have seen what he can do. Richt has done a decent job at Georgia and Tressel was a pretty fair coach as well.

I would look at Zook for a staff addition (recruiting studs).

This kind of thinking makes me sick but we need to keep our eyes wide open and I am sure that none of us want to bring in an inexperienced (learn as you go) type coach.
