Then, they have 12 FRESHMAN in their 2-deep on defense. Not because of roster mismanagement or playing a bunch of unathletic seniors while they redshirt the freshman, because they had 7 defensive players drafted last year!!

They have played 7 games and 4 have been against ranked teams including 3 in the top 10. They have 2 top 10 wins this season despite the youth and injuries. Anyone can look at their record and say they are underachieving, but take a look at the whole picture before making any judgments - if you still feel that way, fine. But don't act like what he is accomplishing is anywhere close to watch we are accomplishing.

These "excuses" don't apply to our current staff and they won't apply to a hypothetical new staff.

The only reason Richt would leave Georgia is because he'd be running from expectations, to a place that has high expectations. I don't see that as a recipe for success. I think he'd be using us as a fresh start and a last paycheck before he retires.

If you can't admit we came a long ways in a short amount of time under Bo you really aren't being objective. In two years we were playing in a conference championship game that they stole from us against a team that had every opportunity to win a National Title. That was progress. If this hypothetical new staff doesn't do better than that in year two it's a step back.

Shouldn't this be merged with the other thread where all the coaching suggestions were placed? Two things we don't want to do with our new head coach: #1-Pick another coordinator that has no head coaching experience. #2-Pick up another head coach that underperforms. As others have stated here, Richt has underperformed at Georgia, and although the SEC is a touch conference, he should have found a way to win the conference at some point during his tenure with the talent he can get at Georgia. There are many other good options out there.

I don't buy that argument. There are no "gimmes" in the SEC. It's extremely difficult to go undefeated in that conference; even Bama has lost games during their championship years. He has won 2 SEC championships and been to 3 BCS bowls. He is a widely-respected coach, high character, and well-liked by pretty much everyone in the college football community. Plus he's a Nebraska son, grew up a fan of the Huskers, and would love to bring the program back to its former glory. What more could you want?

It's absolutely one thing if he was losing one game and they were to the Alabama's and LSUs of the world. It's another to lose to Clemson in your opener and to Mizzou and Vanderbuilt.

Clemson, Mizzou, and Vandy would all beat Nebraska. Once again I reiterate that there are no "gimmes" in the SEC, well except for maybe Kentucky, and even they are on the up-and-up.

That wasn't the argument whether or not that those teams would beat NU. It is whether Richt is an improvement or not. It isn't a matter of those three teams beating us, it's whether they have any business beating Georgia. The answer is no. They shouldn't beat Georgia, a school committed to football with a ton of resources and just miles away from all the talent in the world. Richt is in no way shape or form an improvement.

Oh, you mean kind of like a school like Nebraska damn near losing at home to Wyoming, and getting their a$$ handed to them by Minnesota. I agree, guys who allow these kind of losses have no place at Nebraska. I'm glad you were the one to say it.

The new staff also better have top ten recruiting classes rated by every service across the board. This isn't my expectation moreso what the board feels.

You also better NEVER ONE TIME lose to an unranked team.

You seem almost like you base your arguments completely in Nebraska's record. Which is fine if you want to be simple like that. Yep, 9-4 is better than 8-5 or 7-6. So congrats on that, we can do math. Whoop dee doo. I'm looking at this team as a whole. I'm looking at the product on the field. I'm looking for a plan that I feel will eventually work. I'm looking for progress. If what we saw yesterday is representative of what you call improvement then count me the f#*k out. I'm tired of seeing this same joke over and over. Tired of the excuses. Most of all tired of a guy that refuses to acknowledge that changes are needed. Its not getting better. This guy was supposed to fix the defense. None of this explains why we should keep a sixth-year coach we're paying a top 15 in the country salary to having a team lose to Minnesota and look bad doing it - look disinterested and unable to put up a fight while doing it.
