Did he have a good year in your opinion?

I know he struggled through some tough times as a Husker on the field during his career, but I think he was pretty solid his senior year.

Especially considering how many injures we had on the Oline this year. I know there were at least 3 games he played more than one position. He wasnt hurt, played mulitple spots, and hardly suffered from his penalties and such as in years past.

However, given his gigantic body and heralded signing here, along w some stupid plays and mistakes (espically for a senior) I'd say he was solid not great. Probably really could've used a redshirt yr his freshman season, but this year was his best year, methinks.

He went from "very poor" to "serviceable, if below average" in my book. He cut down on the stupid stuff and didn't cost us a lot but I still saw him standing around doing basically nothing way to often.

lol. I'm not sure anyone is just standing around.

But I know what you mean. There were plays when our RBs would get blasted and they'd show the replay and one could plainly see that AR was just blown off the ball or whiffed on his block.

Then, other times id see him pancake his man 6-8 yds downfield or hold off a DE for 3-5 sec on pass plays. He surely, undeniably was better this yr. especially w his penalties and just plain more consistent play for the most part.

I saw him in person at practice before the Michigan game and he is a mammoth human. I'm glad he finished strong, yet wished he could've shown a bit more. Such is the fishbowl.

Who steps up next year? Knevel? I know Sterup has high praise (and game experience), I think Whittaker and Farmer could be good.

I have been on the A.R. rag list since he was recruited...... in fact, when talking to some non-Nebraska fan the other day, I mentioned that going into the last 2 games of the season, that we had only 1 original "starter" playing in his normal position.. and that was A.R., and he was the worst of all of our original starters...... I know that my quote was probably an exaggeration, because I wasn't for sure if he was the only one who hadn't moved (or maybe he even moved).... but I was fairly confident that he was the worst of our O-line.

With that said, I will say that he has improved as he grew... I NEVER expected him to remain a contributor after his first 3 years, but as mentioned above, typically, if you don't hear about an OLman, he is doing pretty decent. I think he deserves some credit, and people need to remember that he doesn't have a vast amout of football experience.

As hard as I have been on A-rod, I think he should be commended for improvement and toughness. Thank you for being a Husker, and best of luck in the bowl game.

I'd like to know how many times he was called for a false start in his career. He improved and was a lot better this year, but I still remember him getting called for a false start multiple times this year.

Unfortunately I'm being serious. Not all the time but way too often - of course at all is way too often - but yes. Film doesn't lie.

I thought when he was recruited that he had the physical make-up and potential to be an All-American, at least second team. He's definitely one of those players I thought would mold into a really good football player. He's good but didn't really stand out.

Andrew was rated 4 stars. You're right Enhances89, "He's good but didn't really stand out"

Seems like the light came on for Rodriguez this year. Pretty solid play considering they moved him all over the line. Too bad we don't have him back for next year. If he had another good year playing college ball his prospects for playing Sundays wouldn't be too bad.

A. Rod had a pretty good year, not great, but decent. Three things have hurt him IMO.

1. He would have benefited from a RS year, that is why the light bulb really only came on at the end of last year.

2. Switching from Guard to tackle really hurt his development.

3. IMO he is not a natural tackle. He is more of a guard. He doesn't have the quick step to handle the pass pro necessary for tackle.

Athletically he has all the tools, but I think the mental part of the game came much slower for him.

I agree with this. He is a natural guard. His career would be looked at somewhat different if he had stayed at Guard all that time.
