B1G Investigating Friday Games & November Night Games

Don't run too far from the porch with this discussion just yet, but the possibility of the occasional Big Ten football game on Friday is reportedly at least going to be discussed.
So, too, is the thought of playing primetime games in November, which the Big Ten has previously frowned upon.

Wisconsin State Journal reporter Andy Baggot wrote today that while both ideas are "years away" from becoming a reality, "they are curious talking points for Big Ten Conference administrators meeting this week in Chicago."

Writes Baggot: "Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany is trying to get feedback to be used in negotiating the next series of TV deals for the league. The current contracts run through 2016 (with Fox for the conference football championship game) and ’17 (with ESPN and ABC for regular-season games).

"If the networks want Big Ten games on Friday nights — a slot traditionally reserved for high schools — Delany wants to know where his constituents stand and an idea of what a commitment like that would be worth.

A Friday night game would be aces with me once a year or two.

Primetime would be nice but Id be simply happy with more 2:30 starts at least.

We would get the 2:30 slots if we played better and more attractive to networks. friday night games should be for games that no one wants to watch.

We use to get the good spots when we were good. now that we are just another team no one cares. hopefully that changes.

November night games, YES.

Friday games, NO.

One Friday is good enough for Nebraska. Sure it could bring more TV exposure, but nothing beats a Saturday football game. Putting it to Friday will limit the fans who can make it, IE the ones who start their travel on Friday morning/afternoon to make sure they don't miss much work, if at all. Now your forcing people to lose out on more money, and possibly just not come. More empty seats will be the answer to this, IMO.

Move the Black Friday game to a night game and we would be set. I hate how early it is, as I have to travel Thursday night after family events to even make it, or leave at 4AM, which is not going to happen for me lol.

Friday games will be bad for recruiting. Night games in November could be good. I prefer games starting at around 2:00 p.m. or so. NO 11:00 a.m. start times.

Friday night games? Bad for recruits, good for (some) fans.

Saturday 11am games? Bad for fans, bad for recruits.

Why does this idea need to be "years away?" Night games rock, make it freaking happen already Big Ten.

My guess is that this means Jims trying to suck every penny he can out of the deal before he signs it.

lol. Style point, +1. For the in-context use of Lebowski response.
