B1G Investigating Friday Games & November Night Games

Friday night games? HORRIBLE idea. Don't expect any HS player or any parent of a HS player to be watching the game. Hmmmm.....who are we trying to recruit again?

With 14 teams, the conference needs more potential timeslots for games, particularly in November where there is currently only 2. I don't really like the idea of Friday night Husker games, as Fridays are for high school football to me. But night games in November would be a great addition.

I'm pretty sure we could have November night games. I remember Delaney saying if the school wants to that they can. If we can find a network to put our game on at night we can make it happen. What really needs to happen is Nebraska needs to lead the conference in doing this. We need to just start doing it. It would be a HUGE advantage over every other team in the B1G that won't do it with primetime coverage, getting recruits on campus easier later in the season, perceived being a team that wants to push the limits and be different than others in our conference, etc

I am okay with Friday night games because I want to watch college football every day of the week.
Agree. I don't want the Huskers playing every Friday but one game a year meaning maybe one home game every other year? I can live with that.

I am not sure where I stand on Friday home games. I see pros and cons...I also see dead people and multiple girls at once...telling each one that I am not seeing other girls.

Pros: Night game...Less old people because JAG and Murder She Wrote would be on...Lots of coverage...Better than 11am

Cons: It is not Saturday...

It would be an adjustment for fans..

If the game starts at 7pm do you leave work early from Omaha?

Do you head to Lincoln at 3pm?

Is parking going to be a bigger mess?

Will less girls show up because for a normal 2:30 Saturday game they start getting ready at 7am, so for this would they have to take the entire day off?

Friday games will be bad for recruiting. Night games in November could be good. I prefer games starting at around 2:00 p.m. or so. NO 11:00 a.m. start times.
Nebraska needs to earn the right for no 11AM game starts first.
So what had Ohio State, MSU, and Michigan done the last how ever many years to lose the right to not play at 11???

Every team has played them. They suck as a fan, but this deal is WAY over blown.

And Nick this wasn't directed to only you, but all fans that moan.

We could go back to the good old days of games starting at one, with no coverage except radio I guess

MSU, UM and Ohio State don't get embarrassed on national television like we do, This is why they play more day/night games. Every time we have gotten the shot to make an impression, we piss down our leg. I am not saying they don't ever get embarrassed, but its not on a regular basis like it is for us. Up until these past two seasons. Because of the losses Michigan has had these past two seasons, you will see them getting more 11:30 games as well. UW, OSU and MSU will continue to get picked over us for primetime games until we can prove we are a quality team. This is what I meant by saying we have to deserve that block before we can expect it.

11am sucks for the fans in Omaha...I can't even imagine how bad it is for the fans that have to drive two hours or more.
Speaking from experience, I head down Friday afternoon/night and stay with friends/family so its no big deal lol. No matter what time we play, I leave the Friday, just because I like to tailgate early. Early games cut down tailgating time before the game, which IMO, is the best part.

Nebraska 5(3 home)

Ohio State 5(2 home)

Michigan State 6(3 home)

Wisconsin 4(2 home)

Michigan 3(2 home)

These are the number of times these teams played 11am games last fall. So how does "deserve" carry any merit when discussing the early start.

Wyoming game- 7pm game- BTN (Yay???)- Embarrassing game for how close it was, impressive offense from us.

Southern Miss- 5PM game- BTN, Its Southern Miss....

UCLA- 11AM game BUT its on ABC.... PISS down our leg.

SDSU- 5 PM game on BTN (Yay???)

Illinois- 11AM game- ESPNU (worse than BTN)

Purdue- 11AM game- BTN

Minnesota- 11AM game, ESPN!!!!!!!- Piss down our leg once again.

Northwestern- 2:30 game, BTN

Michigan- 2:30 game, ESPN!!!! For once, we win on a national spotlight. We got this time slot because the two top 3 winningest teams facing eachother.

Michigan State- 2:30 game ABC!!!!! Guess what... another chance we get to piss down our leg. Embarrassment. The ONLY reason we got this slot was because of MSU.

Penn State- 2:30 game, BTN

Iowa- 11AM game, ABC!!!!! Lets face it, not many big games on that day. We should land this spot because of tradition and the name. Oh and guess what??? Yep thats piss going down our leg!

Georgia- 11AM game, ESPN2 and we finally perform!

6 11am game starts-

4 of those games on national television, we blow 2 of them! We went 1-3 until the Georgia game. There is no way we can count ESPNU as a "premeir" channel. Its lower than BTN on the totem poll.

7 games that started after morning

5 of them on BTN, because ESPN and ABC had better games to televise ALL day. We remaining two games that were on primetime, we dropped the ball against MSU and won against Michigan.

13 games in total:

3 on ABC- we go 0/3. This by far is the most "prestige" channel for us to be on, regardless of the time. I will take an 11AM game if we get televised here.

3 on ESPN/ESPN2- 2/3, with our most important coming against Georgia

6 games on BTN

1 on ESPNU

All 4 losses on primetime tv. Impressive and deserving I guess.... We should feel good that BTN wants us over the other remaining games that ESPN and ABC didn't and send the one they don't want to ESPNU.
