In seriousness, though, I suppose an extension never really precludes or even makes it too hard to fire a coach as long as the backing is there. But that backing probably needs to be there almost regardless. Weird relationship between athletic departments and boosters...
Bo's in a boat no different than he was last season with the contract, it sounds like. So while this simmers down any potential "OMG Bo's on a short leash, they're letting him twist in the wind, recruits should go elsewhere" f'up, particularly from opposing coaches on the trail, it doesn't actually mean Bo is locked up and unfire-able. He'll still go through his annual review at the end of 2014. All in all, though, he should feel good about the ground he's on. Dude's right - lack of administrative backing is not going to be an issue.
