Nebraska sophomore safety LeRoy Alexander this week delivered my favorite quote of the spring practice season -- so far, anyway.
"We were soft (last spring)," he said Wednesday of the Husker defense. "We're trying to bring back the Blackshirt mentality and let the offense know that we run Nebraska."
I'm sure that will be interesting news to Ameer Abdullah, Kenny Bell and company.
"We have to let them feel it," Alexander added, "especially when we get to hit on Saturday. We have to let them know who's boss."

Alexander's comments Wednesday reflect a much different attitude and mindset. So far this spring, it's been fun watching the cohesiveness, enthusiasm and athleticism that is evident throughout Nebraska's defense. I address that topic in a Saturday column.
