College Football's 10-Win Club

Assistant Coach
Mr. Accountability's post from another thread got me thinking -- and sorry, I know I'm pushing it
default_tongue.png
-- about how Bo's three 10-win seasons in a six-year period stack up versus the field. Please don't take this as scientific or meaningful in any way. It's simply a different arbitrary slice of the numbers. We could use '8 wins' or '11 wins' and get still another picture.

I've divided this into two categories: 'Total' and 'Regular Season' (which includes CCGs, but not bowl games). It's just how that database had it, and since I already looked it up, I've included those numbers as well.

Pushing it Zoogs? Just pushing? You sir have completely blown the top of the box that is pandora. What the hell is wrong with you?

What's the O/U on posts before the dumpster fire?

On topic though, really good info there. Interesting to see what teams make the cuts.

I always disregard mid majors when it comes to stats like this. Hard to justify their success' even if they do have a couple wins over the years beating an BCS school in a one game scenario with a minimum of 4-5 weeks to prepare. i.e. Boise State.

There are 73 schools total on that top list combined.

Only 14 of those schools that have had that "success", have a coach that started prior to the 2008 season and continue to be head coach heading into 2014.

Alabama - Nick Saban (2007)

BYU - Bronco Mendenhall (2005)

Georgia - Mark Richt (2001)

LSU - Les Miles (2005)

Michigan State - Mark Dantonio (2007)

Mizzouri - Gary Pinkel (2001)

Oklahoma - Bob Stoops (1999)

Oklahoma St - Mike Gundy (2005)

Rice - David Bailiff (2007)

South Carolina - Steve Spurrier (2005)

TCU - Gary Patterson (2000)

UCF - George O'Leary (2004)

Utah - Kyle Wittingham (2005)

Virginia Tech - Frank Beamer (1987)

Not really sure what this fact brings to the table but I thought it was interesting. Especially when you look what year these guys WERE hired. Only 5 have been head coach of the program for 10+ years.

And if you disregard all the McNeese State's that Nebraska has fattened on, we'd be in trouble here.

True.....every other school on that list has a strength of schedule unbelievably higher than Nebraska's each season.

all the BCS schools fatten on mid major in the preseason...some more than others but they all do it...

As would most other teams on the list.
