Missing Malaysia Airlines Plane

Wow, that's interesting.

I don't really see how this plane could be used as a weapon exactly. What are they going to do, fly it again? Then again, what would two pilots be needing to run away from so dramatically with a few hundred of their closest friends? Wonder if they're looking at the passenger list. My extensive experience watching spy thrillers on TV tells me there might have been a high value target on board.
Zoogs, seriously? You don't see how this plane could be used as a weapon? Sept 11th ring a bell? This thing is going to turn up again and when it does it isn't gonna be good. This thing didn't crash, all the evidence is going against that at this point. This won't end well..........
I think it could definitely be used as a weapon, but the logistics needed to refuel and a location, would take a hell of a lot of planning. Not too mention, what about all the passengers? If somebody actually landed the plane, they'll need somebody on the ground to round up the passengers and put them in some sort of holding area. And it's not like you could land a 777 in a field. I'm not even sure you could use a dirt strip to land something that big. They'd need a paved landing area, and those aren't easy to conceal.

If someone wanted this to pan out, the logistics would be taken care. I've been leaning towards the "the plane landed somewhere" theory for a few days now. The pilot(s) are most likely part of a much larger group of people hell bent on something. My guess is it landed on some runway, was towed inside a hangar, the passengers rounded up and detained or killed, and the plane is currently being loaded up with explosives of some sort. And it's not out of the realm of reality this plot has the backing of a nation with an axe to grind. It seems far-fetched but it's not out of the question in my mind.

If terrorists wanted a plane for a weapon why wouldn't they just get an old, used one. Perhaps steal one from a package carrier. Something like that wouldn't even make a blip in the news. But the Malaysia airliner is under the scrutiny of half a dozen gov'ts and the entire news reading world.

If this was terrorists, whatever the plan was has already happened. Those people are gone. Most likely the plane is too. IMO.

If terrorists wanted to bring down a plane, why would the secretly divert the plane, fly under radar to someplace nobody knows about? It is pretty obvious this was done deliberately. Why would they deliberately do this only to crash the plane into the ocean?

As a giant slap in the face for the so called "security" at airports these days that's why. I think they are preparing this plane for whatever they're gonna use it for and preparing it well. What's to say they don't paint the plane different? What's to say they don't add some sort of weapons system to the plane? Is it far fetched? Maybe, but it's still possible and it may be years before they go through with their plan. By that time people will have forgotten about the plane. It's not something they're gonna do right away IMO.

It's no more far fetched than a Boeing 777 going basically invisible with close to 300 people, flying for another 7 hours and then completely disappearing from the face of the earth. Something here is very different than the normal terrorist hijacking or blowing up a plane. There isn't much right now that we can right off as too far fetched.

One "source" said the passengers and crew unanimously vote to detour the original flight. Destination ...... remote and abandon paradise airstrip. A whole bunch of WWII abandon island airstrips. Mini vacation.

Seriously, I tend Flight 93 carbon copy. Hijack terrorists target: unknown. Perhaps hit US aircraft carrier? Deluxe kamikaze?

Or maybe practice for future US soil attacks ala 9/11. The real terrorists test result ........airport security basically joke.

By taking a old plane, it wouldn't of generated the news story as you pointed out. Hijacking a commercial plane with passengers on board like this. Created a huge news story around the world. With the details coming out how it flew under radar, changed direction, couldn't be tracked. Plus with how it can't be found and no idea what happened to it. Has created talk and fear of it being used as a weapon. If terrorist did this then that is what they are wanting. Panic and fear in people wondering where it's going to show back up, when will it show up. How will it be used and for what purpose, plus what is their motive. This is also why i suspect no group has come forward with the information yet, claiming that they took it. They really want the confusion and fear to set in. I don't feel you would have that if an old plane thats not used was taken. It would of made local news only.

But no one is claiming responsibility or made any demands. That means if it's terrorists, what they really have planned is still to come.

A terrorist group that doesn't have their own planes retrofitting a Boeing 777 commercial airliner with a combat system definitely sounds far-fetched.

If they actually had big plans in store, they would've done something a bit more...(bad pun) under the radar to begin with. Save it for the big reveal, you know?

The thing I like least about this whole thing is the Hannibal Barca-like scepter the vague appellation of terrorism has grown to be. Bad people do bad things all the time, but their imagined power probably far exceeds their actual ability. I suppose that speaks to the effectiveness of their methods. This could end up being a pilot having a mental breakdown, but we're gripped by fear of the worst.

I agree which why I feel they havn't claimed anything. Is to really let the fear, panic and confusion set in. At this point it can hit at any time and anywhere in the world.

anywhere in the world?

The Russian Air Force can't hit anywhere in the world without being detected. I don't think a subsonic passenger airliner stands a chance. The US probably could, but that's because we have B-2s.
