When you have Nebraska's legacy, facilities, talent, and money I would hope that games against the likes of Southern Miss, Wyoming, McNeese st, SoDak St, Purdue, Illinois, Idaho, Florida Atlantic and Tennessee Chattanoga are exactly that. If not, we have the absolutely wrong coach here.

No I just think that Nebraska should be better than them.

A lot of things used to be and are no longer. Alabama used to suck. Illinois used to be good. Minnesota won national titles. We used to be a lot of things.

I haven't been entirely happy with what's been put out on the field so far; and I guess my opinion of the whole thing is really influenced by when I became a Husker fan (early 2000s). I see Nebraska play like sh#t and no, I'm not too pleased about it. But I see Nebraska playing for conference titles and playing in bowl games every year and part of me thinks that the time will come when we make that jump forward and start winning those titles and playing in bigger bowl games and who knows even a national title.

Nebraska has proven it can spend and compete with the best of them. And right now, they're underachieving, all nine win seasons are not created equal. Closer attention to the pre 2000-present years would tell you that.

Legacy, facilities, talent, and money don't win games. Teams with players and coaches win games, and when you're in between the sidelines on Saturday all the rest of the stuff goes out the window.

Those games are mop-up wins for us because we're a pretty good football team. Northwestern gets four games against teams like that per year too, but they aren't mop-up wins, but it's because they aren't as consistently good of a football team.

we are consistently pretty good because of legacy, facilities, talent, and money. but with all those advantages we still are unable to bring home a conf. champ. that is the point of all of this. that is why the people ranked bo no. 9. not because of what he has accomplished, because of what he has not.

yes, any given saturday anyone can win. but the deck is usually stacked in our favor. are we going to lose to a minny or iowa occasionally? absolutely. is that the issue? nope. the issue is that we rarely, if ever, play a complete game of football. imagine how good bo's seasons would have been if he could get them to play consistent, fundamentally sound, complete games? that is what this all comes down to.

I don't mind those teams being in play. I mind that Northwestern, Iowa, Fresno and Minnesota are considered teams that are (debatably) in play. It should be a rare, surprise letdown to lose to a team like that, and for the top teams, this is the case.

i fail to see how "mega-conferences" (not sure we have really even seen those), tv deals, and revenue sharing have done to nebraska's ability to defend the jet sweep and avoid turnovers.

The jet sweep is basically a one game example of our recruiting deficiencies. Those have been well addressed. And I'd like us to avoid turnovers as much as anyone.....that alone might just add a win or two. TV deals and revenue sharing have led to improved facilities at other schools. We're not a million miles ahead in facilities like we were in the 90s and before.

who is expecting us to replicate the 90s?

a lot of us just want to do what msu and wiscy have been able to do, win conf. champs. and yes, there is more competition for that, but the point is that we are underachieving with the talent we do have. because we lack good fundamentals and are unable to play complete games. that is what the jet sweep quip was getting at. tv deals and revenue sharing has done nothing to our ability to play to our potential. we underachieve because we are unprepared and not getting the most out of our players.
